[I really like the title, which is a poetic reference to the couple's relationship and a conversation.

Warnings: Combat, wounds, ship moments and trauma. Mentioning panic, self-harm and the memory of murder.]

The first weeks of the fighting dictated a brutal pace, and they hardly had time to process the weight of their actions and the responsibility that fell upon them. Keeping up with the fast pace, Ink fought them with an emotionless dark face. Kitsu also made his wings transparent using his half-spirit existence. Ink blocked the twin blades with his brush and only heard the sound of wings flapping behind him, his face showing dark recognition as the scythe's treating edge cut into his back.

– Ink!!! – the massive Gaster blaster army of the locals fired at his attacker at once. The burning sensation and the crowd were nothing new, Kitsu only felt it as a dull echo as he hit the cold stone road. The attackers and fighters watched him for a moment in immobility as he lay motionless. Ignoring the attention, Kitsu jumped to his feet and ruffled his feathers, shaking the dust off them before pouncing on the army of attackers with a powerful blow.

Aku taking advantage of Ink's inattention, appeared next to Shard and covered the entire team in darkness, this way motivating them to continue. Drawing strength from his magic, the members regained the advantage. Ink healed himself with green paint before getting in Shard's way, jumping on Gaster blaster formed with black ink, trying to erase the black holes. Ink hated using white paint, but nothing else worked against the black holes. Dream quickly fired his arrows, which stuck out of the majority of the members as a result of the fight. Aku used his blade to force him to switch to daggers and fight with him.

Most of the fighters were covered with wounds and their fatigue was visible

Most of the fighters were covered with wounds and their fatigue was visible. Dream was no different, his golden blood stained his bones and his clothes were worn. The positivity of the world kept him on his feet, the despaired hope that they can win. Ink jumped into the fight from the side, attacking with gray paint that had the strength of rocks. Aku blinded them with yellow, forcing them both to jump back. Dream quickly switched to a bow ready to target him, just as Ink appeared above him from one of the ink portals. All three of them faced the battle ahead of them with distorted grins.
