December 6th - Monday
Third person P.O.V.
The rest of the weekend passed by quickly. As Liam has a very important history test on Monday, he spent Sunday studying. In Theo's eyes, he thought it was unnecessary for Liam to study so much, as Liam knew all about history by heart. But Liam's nerves didn't allow him to rest. They spent the day sitting in bed or at the kitchen table, with Liam babbling about historical events and old costumes.
Theo listened to everything attentively despite not being very interested in the topic, he even asked Liam some questions to answer.
When he lay in bed, Liam was nervous, not only because of the test, but also because he was going to see Maon again, who he hadn't spoken to since their argument at school. Because of this argument, Mason would definitely not give him a ride, which means he would have to wake up much earlier to walk.
Theo was the first to wake up on Monday morning, he decided not to wake Liam up as he noticed how tired he was the night before. He had breakfast with Jenna and David and then decided to go to a supermarket to buy something for Liam to eat since all the bread and cereal were gone. When he got into the car he realized that it wouldn't start and he had to rush to buy food, write a note in a hurry and run to work or he would be late.
When Liam wakes up, he immediately notices something different, the house is silent, too silent. He jumps out of bed, and if it weren't for the piece of paper that falls to the floor as he does so, he would have run out of the room.
I had to leave early, my truck isn't working, I had to walk to work.
Liam is relieved to see Theo's note but the fact that he won't have company for breakfast leaves him feeling lonely. Liam gets dressed quickly, as he also has to walk to school. His mood is not the best, he is nervous and upset with Mason. And now that he won't have Theo's company before going to school, everything seems to get worse.
As he prepares to put his backpack on his back, the sound of a car skidding down the street and a scream that is undoubtedly Corey's, breaks the silence.
Liam runs out of the house and comes across Mason's car. Mason is hurt and furious and his gaze alternates between Liam and Theo's truck parked in front of the garage. He gets out of the car and approaches Liam with long steps, Corey remains in the car, not wanting to interfere in the discussion between the two best friends.
"That's why you've been acting strange." He points to Theo's truck and Liam swallows. "When were you going to tell me?"
"What did you want me to tell you? Mason, the psychopath who tried to kill and destroy us, is back and living in my house?"
"He's living in your house?" Mason asks angrily and Liam closes his eyes as he realizes his stupidity. "For how long?"
"Five days."
"Are you crazy Liam? Are you really going to let him stay at your house?"
"He changed." Liam says, now as loud as Mason.
"Did he?" Mason screams and Liam feels anger bubbling up inside him. "Don't be fooled, it's Theo. I'm sure he's up to something."
"No he's not, Mason."
"Do you really believe that? He already deceived you once, he could do it again. We know better than anyone that Theo is a great liar."
It's true, Liam knows. But something about the time he has spent with Theo tells him that he has really changed.
"Probably now that Scott isn't here he's trying to take over Beacon Hills."
"Stop with that shit Mason. He's changed, you don't know him!" Liam screams and glares at Mason, whose anger is as powerful as his own.
"And you know?"
"Yes! I know! And he has been there for me when I needed it the most, unlike you. I understand that now that the war is over you want to spend time with Corey, but I'm also your friend and I needed you."
"You're the one who walked away!" Mason looks at Liam in disbelief.
"Because the war left me traumatized, and my anger issues were worse than ever and I was filled with fear of hurting you by accident. But you never asked me what was wrong, you let me walk away."
"Liam..."
Liam doesn't hear the rest of Mason's sentence, he runs away when he feels claws and fangs appear. His speed means he is away from Mason in just a few seconds and he leans against a wall trying to control his breathing. He fells like is at the rock bottom.
He grabs his cell phone and looks for Theo's contact. He stares at the name for a few seconds and Mason's words come to mind.
What if Theo really is taking advantage of me? Liam thinks.
He ignores Theo's contact and clicks on Harper's. She answers on the third ring.
"Hey Li."
Contrary to what he expected, Harper's voice failed to calm Liam. His thoughts were too confused and angry.
"What's wrong?"
Then Liam starts talking and talking as he walks to school. He talks about Theo and how he had returned to Beacon Hills, he talks about his argument with Mason and how he doesn't know Theo's true intentions. Harper listens carefully and in the end Liam wishes she was there with him to hug her.
"Have you ever thought about apologizing first?"
"Why would I apologize? He's the one who's wrong!" I say indignantly.
"You are both wrong. Mason is also hurt that you didn't trust him, he's your best friend. You two have a very big ego, if one of you doesn't decide to apologize first you will be mad for a long time unnecessarily. You have to have an honest conversation, say how you feel, not start shouting at the front door like an old married couple."
"What if he doesn't accept my apology? He was really furious." Liam rubs his face with his hands feeling calmer.
"You know Mason, I'm sure he'll forgive you."
"I'm so mad at him, but I miss him."
"I know, you just have to talk, you'll see that everything will go back to normal later." Harper says calmly. "As for Theo, how do you feel?"
"I feel like he's changed. I'm sure, the Theo I know is not the same Theo we sent underground."
"Then, trust your instincts. And if by chance you're wrong and Theo is really crazy, I'll be the first to run up to him and beat him up."
Liam laughs and thanks his friend, then hangs up since he finally arrived at school.
He breathes deeply as he enters school, his heart a bit more calm.
Little did he know that everything would get worse.
Maybe he should have stayed in bed.
