December 6th - Monday
Theo P.O.V.
The day at work was extremely tiring, my only desire is to get home and go to bed. I walk slowly and before I even turn the corner of Liam's street I realize something wrong has happened. The smell of anger and despair reaches me, just like the strong smell of blood.
I run at the speed of light bursting into the house and immediately head to Liam's bathroom.
"Liam!" I try to enter the bathroom but it is locked. "Liam, open the door!"
I hear his breathing quicken and I try to force the lock, failing miserably.
"Go away." His voice cracks and I hear a growl.
"I won't leave you alone." The concern expressed in my voice. "Open the door please."
"I can't..." I hear a thump and a sob of pain. "I can't."
His suffering opens a hole in my chest and I lose control. I take a step back and throw myself against the door, breaking the lock.
I come across Liam sitting in the shower with water pouring over his body only covered by sweatpants, his knuckles are covered in blood and his claws are embedded in the flesh of his arms. His eyes are closed tightly and his mouth is slightly open, revealing his fangs. I move towards him, trying not to step on the glass of the broken mirror on the floor.
I crouch down in front of Liam and grab his forearm tightly to stop him from shaking, the water starts to soak my shirt.
"I said go away..." Liam growls with his eyes still closed. "I don't want to hurt you."
"You won't hurt me." I turn off the shower and sit across from Liam, soaking my pants. "Open your eyes."
Liam shakes his head in denial and I see the blood running down his arms due to the force with which he pierces them.
"Li, open your eyes." It's the first time that I call him by his nickname. It feels right.
Liam opens his eyes revealing his bright yellow irises, I no longer smell anger, just fear.
"Aren't you... scared of me?" Liam whispers and I place both hands on his shoulders.
"Scared? How could you be scary with those puppy eyes?"
Liam's heart calms immediately and his eyes return to their peaceful blue. His claws and fangs disappear.
"As much as I like your yellow eyes, your blue eyes suit you much better. Calm down, try to keep them that way."
Black veins start to run up my arms as I take away some of Liam's pain. I look into his eyes, which shine for a few seconds. Liam drops his head onto my shoulder in defeat.
"You care about me."
"It took you a long time to understand that."
I lost track of time, but I know we sat in that position for more than twenty minutes, until his cuts were completely healed. I get up and grab a towel, wrapping it around his body. I carefully take off his pants and take off my own clothes, leaving us just in our underwear, so as not to get the floor wet. I leave the bathroom, quickly returning with a change of clothes for Liam, and I leave to let him get dressed, taking the opportunity to dress me too.
Liam lies down on the bed and looks at me.
"Can you stay here? I don't want to be alone."
I lie down next to him on the bed and turn to him, looking him in the eyes. Our bodies are only a few centimeters apart.
"What happened?" I ask, seeing the pain in his eyes.
"Everything is going wrong... I argued with Mason and Nolan made the teacher take my test away before I finished it. I lost control so I ran home."
I grab his hand that is resting on the side of his head. As soon as our skin touches, black veins run up my arm.
"Are you still in pain?" I ask worried. "Where does it hurt?"
"In my heart."
Liam's lip trembles and I move closer to him. I look at him confused.
"I think you're taking away my emotional pain." He explains.
"I didn't know that was possible."
"Me neither."
I don't let go of Liam's hand, instead I remain by his side, taking away all his pain and drawing circles with my thumb on his skin.
"Do you really care about me?" Liam looks unsure and anxious.
"Of course I do. And you can only take away pain if you care."
"You took Gabe's pain, you didn't care about him."
"You're right, but I cared about you, and I knew that you would have done the same, I wanted you to know that I had changed."
Liam gives a little smile.
"The only reason I'm still here is because of you Liam. I would have probably given up by now if you didn't fight for me. You gave me more than I could ever imagine. You're the person I care the most, actually, the only one I care about."
"You're the person I care the most about too." He confesses.
We stay in that position until we hear Liam's parents walk into the house. We heard a small squeak and quickly sat up in bed. Liam's mother runs into the room worried.
"What happened? Why is there a broken vase and blood in the kitchen?"
Apparently Liam had done more damage, which I hadn't noticed when I rushed home.
Liam's father enters the bathroom and sees the door ripped off its hinges and the mirror broken on the floor.
"Sorry, I lost control, but Theo helped me, I'm fine now."
"I'm glad, son." Jenna approaches Liam and gives him a kiss on the forehead, then turns to me. "Thank you for being here for him."
"Always."
