December 18th - Saturday
Third person P.O.V.
The Christmas holidays have finally begun and Liam couldn't be happier. He could take a break from studying and have fun with his friends and family. Maybe he could even finish completing the list with Theo.
Theo is also happy as he will be able to spend more time with Liam.
The two boys love being with each other but now they are both constantly afraid. Afraid that the feelings they feel for each other will ruin the friendship, as they are sure that the other person does not feel the same way.
Theo spent the night awake, living in his thoughts and only left his room when he heard Liam coming out of his.
"Boys, you're finally awake." Liam's mother appears excitedly in front of the two boys. "David and I have something very important to tell you."
Theo and Liam exchange a look before following Jenna into the living room. David tells the boys to sit on the couch and they do so.
"Who died?" Liam says, making his mother slap him on the arm.
"Nobody died, don't be stupid."
"We were talking to a couple, friends of ours, they have a house in Italy, where they usually spend their holidays. This year, however, they are going somewhere else, so they asked if we would like to go there for our holidays." David starts to explain. "I can't leave Beacon Hills because of my job at the hospital. So we talked a lot and decided that we should let you both go, Theo is already an adult and we trust you both to make this trip alone."
Theo and Liam look at the adults in amazement.
"Seriously?"
"We thought it would do you good, we know how worried and constantly alert you have been, so this trip will be great for you to relax a bit. Besides, we know how you always wanted to go to Italy, son."
David takes something out of his pocket and hands it to the two boys. Airplane tickets.
Liam jumps off the sofa and hugs his parents, then turns to Theo who is still in shock and shakes him by the shoulders.
"We're going to Italy!" Liam's eyes light up. "I have to tell Mason."
And so Liam runs to his room ready to call his best friend.
"I don't know how to thank you, but I can't pay this."
"Don't be foolish, you don't have to pay anything. Think of this as our early Christmas present."
"Thank you, really."
"We trust you to take care of Liam, we know you care a lot about each other and I'm sure you'll have a lot of fun."
Liam's parents leave Theo alone in the living room and he thinks about what to do. He doesn't want to interrupt Liam's conversation with Mason.
Harper.
The friend's name appears in Theo's mind and he leaves the house with a smile. He moves far enough away from the house that Liam can't hear his conversation and calls Harper.
"Hi!" Harper answers happily and Theo can feel her smile. "Finally, I thought you had forgotten about me."
"Never, but things have been crazy here."
"I know, Mason told me what happened with Nolan. I tried to call you yesterday but your cell phone was turned off. How are you?"
"I'm fine, thanks to Liam."
"Good, how are things between you two, any progress?"
Theo sits on a small wooden bench and looks ahead with a blank stare.
"To be completely honest, I have no idea. Sometimes it feels like we're more than friends, but that's only because we're comfortable in each other's presence. Liam only sees me as a friend." Theo then remembers the purpose of his call. "But it doesn't matter, I have something incredible to tell you."
"I'm all ears."
"Liam and I are going to Italy."
There is silence and when Theo thinks Harper ended the call, Harper lets out a little scream.
"Seriously? That's so cool. Just the two of you?"
"Yes."
"Oooooo." Harper laughs on the other line and Theo rolls his eyes. "Do you know what that means?"
"No."
"Italy is one of the most romantic countries in the world, perfect for love confessions."
"I don't know if that will happen. I don't want to ruin what we have."
"It would never ruin your friendship, you know Liam, perhaps better than anyone. Besides, what makes you sure he doesn't feel the same?"
"Because it's me, Theo Raeken, the chimera who betrayed his trust and wanted to destroy his entire pack. I know he has already forgiven me but something like this is never forgotten. Liam would never fall in love with someone like me."
"Theo, listen to me, you are an incredible person with a bad past. I don't think you realize how valuable you are, and if there's anyone who admires you, it's Liam. I think you should talk to him, I think you might be surprised by the result, but don't feel pressured, do it when it feels right for you." Harper pauses and Theo smiles, he doesn't know what he did to deserve a friend like Harper. "Liam is really good at hiding his feelings. But people tend to forget that eyes can talk too. If you're looking for something true, look at his eyes, they never lie."
Not far away Liam paces back and forth in his room with his cell phone in his hand and a very excited Mason talking.
"Do you know what that means?" Mason shouts.
"No."
"Italy is the perfect place for you to make out."
"Don't be silly Mason, that's not going to happen."
"My ass it won't. You're going to kiss Theo Raeken, and if you don't I'll get on a plane just to kick your ass."
"You don't have to be so aggressive." Liam sits on the bed.
"You can't miss the opportunity, you will be alone in a completely different country, on a completely different continent. It's perfect."
"I don't w—" Liam shuts up when he hears the front door open and close. "He's here, I have to hang up."
"Don't forget what I told you!"
"Bye." Liam hangs up the call and gets out of bed, fixing his hair.
Am I really fixing my hair? I must be crazy. Liam thinks.
He leaves the room and finds Theo sitting on the sofa, he sits next to him and notices that he is holding the magazine with the list in his hand.
"The trip is perfect for us to complete the list."
"Yes, I really want to finish it."
The two boys then spend the rest of the day packing their bags, researching the best places to visit in Italy and planning everything they were going to do. The two couldn't be happier.
