𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐏𝐓𝐄𝐑 𝐓𝐖𝐄𝐋𝐕𝐄

| OUTSIDE |

It was pouring rain once we stepped out of the parking garage and made our way up the hill to the main road, Ada was still listening to the tape recording. She had covered her head with her beige trenchcoat while me and Leon used either of our arms to cover our faces. "Is that the intel you need?" I asked Ada once I noticed she no longer was listening to the recording, "Unfortunately no, Ben didn't come through." Me and Leon both sighed, we had  been hoping that Ada could explain the little bit that did get recorded since none of it made sense to either of us. "Well, what exactly are you looking for?" Leon asked with his curiosity peaked. "More info on the people responsible for this mess." Ada bluntly replied to his question. "What about you two? Trying to save the world?" She questioned me and Leon. "We told Lieutenant Branagh we'd see through this mess and bring justice." I spoke for me and Leon, making him nod at what I replied with. "Good luck getting that.."

All three of us began to walk down the road, avoiding the cars until we got to the edge of where we could walk. "Roads out. Going through that Gunshop looks like the only way." There were a ton of road blocks, cars butt to butt while there was a giant hole in the middle of the road, Ada was right - it looked like there was no other way through besides going through a shop, and it just so happened to be that a Gunshop with its lights flickering was right by us. Ada walked from the edge of the road to the doors of the gunshop and kneeled, she started picking the lock while me and Leon stared over the ledge of the road. "Hey look at that!" I tapped his shoulder and pointed to a hole that looked like it would lead down into the sewers. "Do you think the rumors are true?.." He turned to look at me "Honestly..I might. I might know." I turned back to meet his gazed, my eyes filled with curiosity and confusion. "Hey guys come on." Ada called out to us and shoved both front doors to the shop open. She was the first one to step in, I was second and Leon was last.

| GUN SHOP |

Me and Leon began looking around while Ada kept to herself, looking as if she was thinking and lost in a train of thought.
I walked over to one of the shelves and found a part that looked like it could go to a shotgun. "Hey Leon, I found this." I walked over to him and handed him the part I had found, "- Which also reminds me that I found a pistol part earlier and thought it could fit yours." I pulled the pistol part out of my pocket and handed it to him, "Thanks Val." He smiled at me and began adjusting both parts onto the two guns he had.

We searched the rest of the shop of ammunition and herbs before continuing on. I turned the corner and was met with a shotgun to my face. I immediately raised my hands with my MG in my hand. "Don't move!" The male shouted in my ear while I had my arms in the air. "We aren't going to hurt you.." I mumbled as a response. "I said DON'T MOVE." He repeated with an aggressive tone and stepped closer towards me.
Leon had now stepped up behind me and was looking at the male that was holding his shotgun to the side of my head. "We're just passing through. I'm going to ask you to lower that weapon." Leon urged the male to listen, you could hear the desperation drip from his tongue. "Like hell you are! You're going to turn around, and go right back out the way you came in." The male wasn't listening to what either of us had to say.
I glanced behind the male while his eyes were on Leon and seen a little girl stumble out, she looked as if she was infected. "I think your daughter needs help, sir."
The male cocked the shotgun on the side of my head, "Don't tell me how to deal with my daughter." I tried my best to stay calm, but I feared anymore and this man would've blown my brains out.
Just as I was wondering where the hell Ada was she came up beside Leon with her pistol pointed at the male, "Drop it." She demanded.
The male angled his shotgun at her, Leon grabbed his pistol and aimed it at him while Ada was stepping closer, I made sure to quickly reach for my gun too, aiming it at the male. "No! Wait!" He cried out while Ada had her gun pointed towards his daughter. "Step aside. We need to terminate her before she turns." Ada sounded so full of herself, in that moment I felt sorrow for the male and his daughter, what had happened to his wife? or his girlfriend? did he have anyone children? if so what happened to them? what happened to the rest of his family? I had been stuck in my own head with thoughts that everyone had turned and we were the only ones left. I felt selfish for thinking of only me and Leon, and trying to help us escape. I could've helped Marvin, if I had only pushed him a little more..maybe I could've gotten him a vaccine, a cure. I'll never know. I'll never be able to know about anything else because this was the path i'd choosen, and I didn't know if I liked it.
" 'Terminate'? That's my fucking daughter!" He urged his shotgun towards Ada while he kept his footing, "Ada, just let them be." I urged her, Leon looked as if he wanted to say the same thing but I had spoken up before he could.
Leon and I dropped our guns to our sides, and seconds later Ada dropped hers to her side too.
"Emma, sweetheart, I told you to stay put..." The man started talking to his daughter while he faced us, gun still aimed in our direction. Emma was walking closer towards her dad, "Daddy...?" She spoke as if she was confused, and stumbling on her words like she was re-learning how to speak.
The male dropped his gun and turned to walk to his daughter, he placed his hand on her shoulder, "Yeah, Emmie. Daddy's here. I'm here, Ok?" He reassured her, dropping to his knees he wrapped his arms around her and pulled her in for a hug.

All three of us stepped closer towards them, I felt as if I was about to cry - but I had to stay strong.
"Those fuckin' things outside... Look what they did to us." He spoke with his chin on her shoulder, shaking his head side to side.
"You both are cops. You're supposed to know something—how did this happen?! HUH?!" He got angry again, and he was right — we were cops, yet it was Leon's first day..and the whole time I was working for S.T.A.R.S. I was blindsided..I should've listened to Jill's rambling about Umbrella and how shady the department was. Though of course, he didn't know that. Leon glanced to Ada who was just standing motionless with her shades, it looked almost as if she was staring at his daughter and wouldn't look away. "She was our sweet little angel..." The man was now staring at Ada, his face full of pain. "Mommy...?" Emma spoke again, staring off into space as she did. The male dropped his head, "Mommy's sleeping, honey, Ok?" He reassured her again, holding onto both of her arms on each side of her, he then looked up at her and back down then back up at her again. "And i'm gonna put you to bed too, Ok?"
We knew what that meant, and my heart shattered. This poor little girl was going to die by her father because she'd gotten bitten. Her mom was already dead. It was just them two, and now him. "...Emma" He whispered, staring at her while she stared into space. He stood up after a few seconds of them staying in place, and picked her up. He started walking back to where Emma had previously came from - I guessed that was where they lived, behind the gunshop. Once he stepped inside, he slowly turned to his shaking his head. "Just go...Just give us some privacy." He was crying, you could clearly hear it in his voice. He turned back around and slammed the door shut.
Seconds went by before Leon spoke up, looking at Ada. You know, it's one thing to keep the truth from me!" His voice was stern, and high. If it had of been any higher it would've sounded like he was lecturing her. "...But why him?" He pointed to the door, his eyes kept on Ada.
*POW*
All three of us looked at the door, my eyes filled with tears. I knew what had happened beyond that door, and I felt nothing but sadness for this man. Leon kept his eyes on the door, clear pain on his face.
Moments later he looked back at Ada, "I want to find out what's happening here. And stop whoever's behind it. Don't you Val?" Leon hadn't made eye contact with me this whole time, and once he did he could tell I was crying, the visible pain on his face got worse. I could only nod as he asked me, I wiped my own tears and then wiped it on my pants, facing away from them, he turned back to Ada.
"Helping people like them.. that's why I joined the force." Ada took a few steps to the side of Leon and stood in front of him. "My mission is to take down Umbrella's entire operation. All of us may not make it out." She glanced between me and Leon.
"Whatever it takes to save this city.. count me in." He replied confidently. "Whoever did this needs to be brought to the authorities. What's happened is a tragedy and someone needs to pay. I'm in." I stepped closer to them, standing beside Leon. Ada nodded at us and then looked back at the house, seconds later she turned around and walked to the right where there was a black gate and a door, "I'll wait for you guys to get done exploring." She leaned against the wall, looking down at the floor while her arms were crossed.

HI BOOKIES!! This chapter was supposed to come out either yesterday or early today but I got distracted with some personal things and forgot to finish writing, I only just now had some free time to sit and write.
