Chapter 6- Greif

I woke up expecting to be cuddled up to kojo but I was cuddled up to Angela. She looks so pretty when she's asleep, I think to myself. I quietly get out of bed making sure I didn't wake her up. Which I succeeded at. When I get into the bathroom my eyes are puffy and red which makes me start crying more because it just means it's true, I go wash my face and brush my teeth before heading into the kitchen making breakfast for everyone. I decide to cook French toast, eggs, and bacon. I decided to put cheese in the eggs I've only done it like once but it was good. I went ahead and fixed everyone's plate and placed it on the bar. I went into Eliza's room and saw her and Jack sleeping peacefully. Kids it's time to wake up, I whisper rubbing both of their checks. Hey mama, Eliza says in a sleepy tone. Hey Lucy, Jack says the words barely coming out of his mouth. I pick both of them up placing them on my hip and heading out the room. I put them down and go wake up Angela while they're eating. Ang, I say while stroking her hair. Hmm, she says while putting her head under the covers. I start laughing, you're just as bad as the kids come on it's time to get up, I say while laughing. I don't wanna, she says while wrapping the covers tighter around her. I try pulling the covers off but it doesn't budge. I go to the other side of the bed and slide up under the covers and I see her with her eyes closed snuggled into the covers. I start tickling her stomach and her eyes shoot open and she starts trying to fight my hands off her. Lucy stop, she says laughing. You gonna get up, I say still tickling her. Yes if you stop please, she says while laughing. I stop and before she try's to pull the cover back over her I snatch the covers off the bed. Lucyyy, Angela wines. So are you gonna get up or am I gonna carry you. Hmm you can carry me, Angela says. I go over and pick her up I put one of my arms under her legs and the other on her lower back. I wasn't serious Lucy, she says while laughing. You weren't gonna get up either way, I say while walking out the room. I put her beside Jack and slide a plate in front of her. Eat, I say. Thanks but you needa eat too, she says. I'm not hungry, I say while turning around to clean up. Lucy Chen fix you a plate, come sit down beside your daughter or me and eat, she says sternly. Yes ma'ma, I say while laughing.

I fix my plate and sit down beside Eliza, I take one bit of my food and just pick at the rest, mama are you okay, Eliza asks me. I'm fine sweetie, I say. No you're not you've been crying, she says now looking at me. I look at Angela and she mouths "talk to her", I sigh and say, come on sweetie we have to talk. I pick Eliza up and we head to my room I shut the door before putting her in my lap on the bed. Mama what's wrong you're scaring me, Eliza says tears starting to form in her eyes. So you know your uncle Jason, I say and she nods. He got hurt on the job and he died, I say in a shaky voice. Tears start streaming down her face, is that his stuff, she says pointing at his things on my desk. Yea it is sweetie. She gets up and goes over to it she picks up his necklace, bracelet, and an older photo of me and him. Can I keep these, she asks bringing them over to me. Sure sweetie I say rubbing her head. You want me to help you out the necklace on, I ask her tears streaming down my face. Yes please, she says. She hands me the necklace and turns around. I move her braids to the side and put the necklace on her and she puts the bracelet on. Thanks mama, she says while hugging me. You're welcome baby, I say while kissing the top of her forehead. Let me know if you wanna talk or anything okay, sweetie, I say while looking at her. I will mama, are you gonna be okay, she asks me. I will baby, I promise, I say back but don't know if it's true or not. I love you mama, she says. I love you too sweetie. Let's head back out, okay. We head out the room and Eliza runs into her room doing god knows what. I'll check on her later. I stand in the door frame and put my head on the wall with my eyes closed while tears are streaming down my face. Luce you okay, Angela asks me, I just nod my head. I head out to the backyard and sit on the grass I prop my legs up into my chest and wrap my arms around my legs and just look up at the sky with tears streaming down my face. I hear someone coming out to the yard but I don't pay it no attention. Someone starts wiping the tears off my face and I look down to see Jack. Hey buddy, I say rubbing his head. Are you okay Lucy, he asks. I will be, I say giving him a slight smile. He comes and sits on my lap while giving me a hug, mommy cry's a lot and she says a hug always helps, so you need a hug, he says. Thanks Jack, is your mama okay, I ask. Yea I think she's fine she's been a lot happier lately, he says. Well that's good, I say with a smile on my face. I hope you're gonna be okay Lucy, I love you, Jack says. I hope so too buddy I love you too.

Angela's POV
I see Jack and Lucy's talking and hugging and it brings I smile to my face. I decide to go check on Eliza. I knock on the door and hear her say come in. Hey sweetheart you okay, I ask. I don't know, she says with tears coming down her cheeks. I walk over to her and sit on the bed pulling her onto my lap, I wipe her tears, I'm always here if you wanna talk okay, I say. I'm gonna miss him, she says. I know sweetie I know, I say while pulling her into a hug. She cries into my chest while I stroke her head. Everything's gonna be okay, I say while kissing her head.

Lucy's POV

Me and Jack head inside and I got check on Eliza. I walk in to see Eliza on Angela's lap hugging her and asleep. I got her, Angela mouths to me. Thanks, I say back. I go put something on tv for Jack and I head in my room to put some clothes on when my phone dings. (Lucy Mom-Lm)

Lm- You know you're a big disappointment and a coward, you didn't have the guts to tell me your brother died instead you have cops tell me. It's your fault anyway you're the one that told him it was a good idea. It should've been you that died not him. You should have died in that barrel and I hope that Sargent of yours rapes you again because you deserve every bit of pain that comes in your life. At this point go ahead and kill your self, look at you you've adopted a kid off the streets, you've gained too much weight and your hideous go kill yourself Lexi.

I read the message in horror it didn't really bother me that much but her calling me Lexi really did it. I haven't heard that name since I ran away at 16. I throw my phone at the wall hard causing it to crack but I don't even care anymore. Tears start streaming down my face and I start having a panic attack. I slide down the wall putting my head in my knees crying uncontrollably.

3rd Persons POV
Jack hears the loud bang and comes into the bedroom to see Lucy up against the wall crying and she sees her phone almost broken but still on the screen with her mom's message. Jack picks up the phone and runs to give it to Angela. Mommy Lucy's crying and her phone looks broken, Jack says. Angela takes the phone from Jack hands and reads the message. Her eyes go wide and tears start to form in her eyes as she reads it. She puts Eliza down on the bed and tells Jack to stay in the room with Eliza. She rushes to Lucy's room and immediately pulls her into a hug. But Lucy still doesn't calm down. Angela takes her shirt off and pulls Lucy between her legs and pulls her head down to her chest so she could head her heart beat. Lucy eventually calms down but is still crying. 30 minutes later Lucy is sound asleep in Angela's arms. She picks Lucy up and lays her in the bed. Angela puts her shirt back on and goes to the kids room. Once the door opens both kids run to Angela. Is she okay, they ask. She will be go lay in the bed with her, she's gonna need some comfort. Jack and Eliza both lay on one side of Lucy and Angela gets beside Jack. They all cuddle up to Lucy and go back to sleep.
