It was a bustling evening at "Flavors of India," Anupama's now-famous restaurant in the heart of the city. The place was alive with the clinking of cutlery, the hum of conversations, and the rich aromas of Indian cuisine. Anupama moved gracefully from table to table, checking on guests and ensuring everything was perfect. Her restaurant had become a beloved local gem, known for its warm hospitality and authentic flavors.

Just as she was about to head to the kitchen, Anupama froze. Standing at the entrance were familiar faces she hadn't seen in years—her ex-husband Vanraj Shah, his wife Kavya, and their family. The Shahs had come to America and decided to visit her restaurant.

Vanraj was the first to spot her. His eyes widened in surprise, and for a moment, both of them stood still, absorbing the shock of seeing each other after so long. Anupama quickly composed herself and walked over to greet them.

"Vanraj, Kavya, what a surprise!" Anupama said, forcing a polite smile. "Welcome to 'Flavors of India.' Please, come in."

Vanraj nodded, still processing the unexpected encounter. "Anupama, it's been a long time. Your restaurant is beautiful."

Kavya, who had always been a complicated presence in Anupama's life, gave her a tight-lipped smile. "Yes, it's quite impressive."

Anupama gestured to an empty table. "Please, have a seat. I'll have someone bring you our special menu."

As they settled into their seats, Anupama signaled one of her staff to take over and hurried to the kitchen to gather her thoughts. The past had a way of resurfacing when least expected, and seeing the Shahs brought back a flood of memories, both good and bad.

Taking a deep breath, she returned to the dining area with a composed demeanor. She approached their table with menus and a warm smile. "Here are our specials for tonight. I hope you find something you like."

Vanraj looked at her, a mixture of curiosity and admiration in his eyes. "How have you been, Anupama?"

Anupama nodded. "I've been well, Vanraj. Busy with the restaurant, but it's been fulfilling. How about you all?"

Kavya spoke up, her tone more relaxed now. "We're visiting the States for a few weeks. Vanraj has some business here, and we thought we'd take the opportunity to explore a bit."

The conversation remained polite, if somewhat strained. The Shah family ordered their meals, and Anupama ensured they received the best service. She excused herself to attend to other guests but kept an eye on their table, her mind swirling with thoughts of the past.

Meanwhile, Anuj and Aadhya arrived at the restaurant after a father-daughter outing. They were greeted by the familiar staff, who guided them to their regular table. Anuj noticed the Shahs and raised an eyebrow in surprise. He walked over to Anupama, who was briefing the kitchen staff.

"Anu, I didn't expect to see the Shahs here," he said quietly.

Anupama sighed. "Neither did I. It's a bit overwhelming, to be honest."

Anuj placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder. "You can handle this. You've come so far, and you're stronger than ever."

Anupama smiled gratefully. "Thank you, Anuj. I'll be fine."

As the evening progressed, the Shahs enjoyed their meal, commenting on the delicious flavors and impeccable service. When they finished, Vanraj called Anupama over.

"Anupama, this was an incredible meal," he said. "You've done an amazing job with this place."

Anupama's smile was genuine this time. "Thank you, Vanraj. It means a lot coming from you."
