After the chaotic bath session, Anuj finally managed to clean up little Aadhymaan. He emerged from the bathroom with the baby wrapped snugly in a fluffy towel, his little face fresh and rosy, smelling faintly of baby soap and powder instead of spices. Aadhymaan blinked his big eyes at Anuj, his giggles subdued now that the excitement of his spice adventure was behind him.
"There we go, all fresh and clean. No more masala monster, huh?" Anuj cooed as he carried Aadhymaan back into the bedroom. He was exhausted, but there was a soft smile on his face. Despite all the chaos, this was the joy of being a parent—the unexpected messes, the moments that made you want to pull your hair out, and, of course, the irresistible laughter that came after.
Anupama was waiting in their room, still amused but slightly on edge after the kitchen disaster. She saw Anuj carrying their now squeaky-clean son and smiled warmly. "You managed to clean him up, finally?"
"Barely," Anuj sighed, but his tone was playful. "I think I deserve an award for surviving that. He didn't just pull at everything in the bathroom—he also turned it into a complete war zone!"
Anupama laughed, taking Aadhymaan into her arms. "Well, he clearly takes after you, Mr. Kapadia. Trouble follows you everywhere."
"Oh, is that so?" Anuj grinned, stepping closer to her. He leaned in and gently kissed her on the forehead, his hand resting on the small of her back. "I think he takes after both of us—chaos combined with charm."
Anupama raised an eyebrow but couldn't help but laugh softly. Aadhymaan, nestled between them, giggled as well, sensing the warmth and playfulness between his parents. He squirmed happily in his mother's arms, reaching up to tug at Anuj's glasses again—his new favorite pastime.
"Not the glasses again, champ," Anuj groaned, though he couldn't stop himself from smiling. "You're really on a mission to destroy these, aren't you?"
Anupama shook her head, amused, as she shifted Aadhymaan a bit so he couldn't reach Anuj's face. "He just loves pulling your glasses off. I guess they're more interesting than any toy we give him."
With Aadhymaan nestled securely between them, Anuj and Anupama shared a soft, intimate moment. Their faces were close, the warmth of the day melting into the quiet evening. Anuj gently touched Anupama's cheek, and she smiled up at him, her eyes twinkling. Aadhymaan, caught in the middle, was the innocent observer, happily watching his parents exchange loving glances.
But just as Anuj leaned in closer, their moment was interrupted by a sudden gasp from the doorway.
"Ahem... what's going on here?" came Aadhya's teasing voice.
Anuj and Anupama froze mid-pose, their faces inches apart, with Aadhymaan contently squirming between them. They turned toward the door to see Aadhya standing there, arms crossed, a smirk playing on her lips.
"Oh, wow," Aadhya said dramatically, "caught you both in a full-on romance moment... with the baby right in the middle! Really, Mom and Dad? You're supposed to be setting an example, not teaching him how to flirt!"
Anupama blushed furiously, and Anuj cleared his throat, attempting to play it cool, but he was clearly flustered. "Aadhya, it's... it's not what it looks like," Anuj stammered, though he knew it was exactly what it looked like.
Aadhya raised an eyebrow, clearly enjoying the moment. "Uh-huh. Sure. I totally believe you," she said sarcastically, her grin widening. "I mean, I'm thirteen, but don't worry—I've seen enough movies to know what's going on here."
Anupama buried her face in her hand, trying to stifle her laughter and embarrassment at the same time. "Aadhya, go easy on us, okay? You're making it sound like we're doing something scandalous."
"Well, when you have Aadhymaan between you two, it's definitely a sight!" Aadhya teased, laughing.
Anuj, trying to salvage the situation, handed Aadhymaan back to Anupama and shrugged sheepishly. "What can I say, kiddo? Your mom and I were just... um, sharing a moment." He grinned cheekily, still a bit red in the face.
Aadhya rolled her eyes. "Uh-huh, and that 'moment' just happened to have Aadhymaan front and center. Poor baby, caught in the middle of all your mushy stuff." She playfully ruffled her brother's hair and gave her parents a knowing smile.
Anupama, finally recovering from her embarrassment, laughed softly. "Alright, alright. You've had your fun teasing us. Now, what do you need, Aadhya?"
"Oh, nothing, really. I just wanted to see what all the noise was about earlier," Aadhya said, her smirk never leaving her face. "But now that I know it's just you two being all lovey-dovey, I'll leave you to it."
Before either Anuj or Anupama could respond, Aadhya turned on her heel and walked out of the room, her giggles echoing down the hallway. "Just don't traumatize Aadhymaan too much, okay?" she called over her shoulder as she disappeared.
Anuj groaned and leaned his forehead against Anupama's shoulder. "Our daughter is impossible."
Anupama, still chuckling, patted his back. "Well, you did marry into a family full of strong-willed women. What did you expect?"
Anuj lifted his head and smiled at her, his embarrassment fading. "You're right. I wouldn't have it any other way."
Aadhymaan, who had been watching the whole exchange with wide eyes, suddenly giggled and reached up to grab Anuj's nose this time, causing both parents to burst into laughter.
"Well," Anupama said, kissing Aadhymaan on the cheek, "at least he's keeping us entertained."
Anuj nodded, grinning at his son. "He's definitely a little troublemaker. But I love every second of it."
With the chaos of the day finally calming down, Anuj and Anupama settled onto the bed with Aadhymaan between them. The little one was now more interested in his own fingers than his parents' romantic moments. The house was filled with the sounds of laughter, teasing, and the warmth of a family that never failed to find humor in even the most embarrassing situations.
As the evening went on, Anuj and Anupama exchanged a few more teasing glances, their romantic moment slightly thwarted but not forgotten. They might have been caught in the act by Aadhya, but they knew that amidst all the laughter and chaos, these were the moments they would cherish forever.
"Next time," Anuj whispered to Anupama with a playful grin, "we make sure we lock the door."
Anupama giggled, leaning her head on his shoulder, as they both looked down at their little spice-covered mischief-maker, who had finally started to doze off between them.
"Agreed," she whispered back, content with the beautiful mess their life had become.
