It was sound that came in first. Although assaulted would be the word i'd use , for the cacophony that blasted in my ear drums.
Violent wind swirling , making the very air hiss.
The rattling of wooden window shutters.
Raindrops meeting stone bricks.
Closing and opening of doors.
Old Floorboards creaking.
Rushed Footsteps .
But worst of all two strange thumping sounds , that just kept approaching closer and closer .
I was lying i think , before my body jolted me up , a spark of electricity zapping in the base of my spine.
My feet met solid ground and only then did my eyes open.
It was dark , thankfully and my pupils quickly adjusted , as they scout everything around me.
I was in a huge and extravagant bedroom , shades of dark blue and gold woven in the interior around me. Very high and open ceilings , made entirely out of white wood. The source of all the creaking . My eyes strayed to the window to find a storm outside raging above the sea. Lights in the far distance, smothered by a thick fog.
I felt.. strange . Everything felt strange.
My hands felt like they were still tingling , the power right underneath my skin. I didn't even have to search for the shadows , they simply coiled around my fingers instantly, making me shake my hands to get rid of them.
That movement too felt strange , like i was too light somehow.
I took a step forward , and my movement felt like easy . Like it required nothing at all.
So i took one more and ended up on the other end of the room. The sudden strange movement gave me a pause and i looked back to find the bed metres away from me.
So i did it again.
My body movement was strange too , easy , too easy.
And fast i realised in shock , as my step teleported me to the other side of the room. I looked down to find small shadows escaping through the entirety of my exposed arms. A strange blue nightgown as garment.
I could feel the air hitting my skin.
The two rhythmic thumps boomed again in my head , closer this time and it made my eyes follow the sound to a massive wooden door on my left.
The thumping sped up , turning to a persistent tone in my head that made me ram my hand in the wall , as iritation took over. What is that damn sound?????
My hand descended into the wall, multiple cracks echoing , before it hit solid rock .
My head snapped back to the wall to find my a huge hole , only my elbow visible , the rest of my arm lost somewhere within.
I pulled it out quickly, debris falling down in my feet , but as i looked over my knuckles i realised there was not even a scratch.
As a matter of fact there was no pain either, i didn't feel anything.
Except hunger.
Hunger bottomed out in my stomach so suddenly it made me still in place , horrible cramps rippling through me .
The shadows felt like they pulled me back to the window my eyes scanning the terrain outside , before my mind even processed the thought.
When i spotted movement in the distant forest foliage , my sight turned to tunnel vision.
Something was moving and every fibre of my being urged me to jump and go after it.
I was so hungry.
Starving.
My attention was dragged away by the feeling of ice , coiling around my neck and pulling me towards the door .
The strange sensation traveled to my chest , turning into fire and i found myself approaching the door without a thought.
It felt like i am being pulled .
The doors banged open so suddenly , it made me jump back before i reached it .
The startle threw me off balance , but no more than the men standing at the threshold now frozen in place.
It took a moment for their faces to come to memory , half of my mind still rolling around with change.
The pull ceased, the channel of magic now visible in the space between us.
An actual dark string appeared from my chest and shot towards them , before splitting in two and turning to a brighter light, each end disappearing into their gloved hands.
Realisation downed on me faster than i thought as i stared at Matheo and Tom side by side, the strange magic fluctuating between us.
They pulled me out.
They bind me to them.
That's how they pulled me out.
" You have masters now and their pull is stronger than death's one. The predator's last words echoed in my head.
The strings disappeared just as quickly as they formed , but deep down i could still feel them, even if i couldn't see them.
