7 days in total, that's how long our little "escape" lasted before Tom received an owl , compeling enough to make him want to go back to wizarding London.
Judging by the silent fury he held behind that immaculate face , i do believe someone was going to die, or several someone's.
I received a message of my own , albeit earlier in the day and out of their sight, from Zed.
Telling me exactly when and where, i can find Kayn's daddy dearest . It was a short window and i needed to leave tonight if i wanted to catch him.
So whatever bad news Tom was obsessing about currently, couldn't have come at a better time, to sway his focus away.We were all gathered in the library , Tom and Matheo reading through a number of letters that arrived in the morning , while i lounged in the chair beside the fireplace , reading a book on "amarun- wizard historical relations" .
The rapidly approaching award ceremony in Hadara , was putting me on edge .
Much as i loathed the whole thing and my need for attendance , i also understood that it was important.
The event itself was to be hosted just outside the city near the tournament grounds , but still within wizarding borders , thank fuck because at least it meant i am not responsible for anything but showing up.
It did made me think about the accomodations though , considering half the people in attendance would be amarun representatives.
From what Tom told me during the tournament there was an entire separate building , for mentors and sponsors participating in the event, away from the masses and an army of aurors outside it making sure it stays that way.
I had no doubt it would be a similar setup , but that was not what i was interested in .
What i wanted to know is what's the grander purpose of the whole thing. Why all these major political events were happening now?
What's the grander scheme .
I wasn't stupid nor naive enough to believe it's about inclusion and cooperation as our authorities portrayed it.
Not after everything Tom told be about what went in the background of our little murder trial by combat.
And according to the book in my hands , the last talk of any cooperation between our two states, outside simple trade agreements was nearly 4 centuries ago .
So why the shift in power now? What changed ? How does it affect me and how do i benefit from it? Those were the questions currently roaming my mind.
Now i knew for a fact , the answers to my questions were not in this book, they were in secret meetings with closed doors, between people with veiled interests , but regardless i liked to know what im i getting myself into.
I knew the way we do things, but wizarding world was a whole entire mystery and considering i was about to be a permanent resident there , i would say i was off the deep end.
If anyone told me 5 years ago i would be joining a underground organisation, one still in development at that , and lead by a wizard, i would have laughed in their face.
Alas.In my defence, the leader was quite something and our motives and views of the world seemed to match , which was more than what most people had in common . So it was a mutually beneficial alliance. For the time being.
" Under the specific circumstances right to entry the state of Amaru , without fearing immediate repercussions, was granted to selected members of the party presented , granted they agreed to abide by the laws set upon each territory by the conciliate .
However the ability to be denied entry or leave by one of the royal houses is non negotiable ."
The page of the book read , followed by a list of names on the bottom, some familiar, but most not.
So the basic legal jest was " If you are selected you can enter , on your own risk , you might leave , you might not "" An equivalental agreement was presented from the wizarding side , with the distinction that laws and reprecussions would be solely enacted by governmental body , dependant on jurisdiction."
* With the exemption for royal house members, of whom trial of repercussions can be held by either state, "
