Rudy finally made his appearance. Kore tried not to be upset that it took until right before the Winter Solstice for him to see his daughter. He arrived at the house and looked quite confused when Kore opened the door. Which made no sense considering both Bonnie and Kore had called him.

A lot of thoughts were going through Rudy's head as he looked at his sister-in-law. He hadn't seen her since his small wedding where she was an impertinent teenager who was allowed a break from her special school. "You've barely aged."

"You last saw me when I was fourteen. But thank you. Are you back for long?" she asked as she moved aside and he looked around the house.

"Not really." She scoffed and he turned to look at her.

"Why not? Why not find a job closer to Bonnie? Or take her with you and do correspondence school?"

"It was more stable."

"I don't believe that to be true. Now she's the only witch surrounded by vampires and a doppelganger." Rudy clenched his jaw.

"I don't know these words."

"Because you never paid attention when my mother talked."

"Because she never stayed sober through a conversation." Rudy jumped as the fire in the fireplace went high and her eyes started glowing.

"You are not here enough to make that statement, regardless of the levels of truth to it. And I would suggest that you watch your mouth with my mother considering she was here and sober enough for you to have her as Bonnie's main caretaker." He sighed and so did she, "So when are you leaving?"

"Two days." she rolled her eyes but went to grab some papers then came back.

"You need to sign this paperwork. I'm going to be here. You won't. And I'd like to take Bonnie on an enrichment trip to the mediterranean. Did you know both sides of my family originated in Ancient Greece? The Bennetts were Grecian by way of Nubia. My father is well, he's Greek. Kind of," She said with a shrug. Her father's more human appearance was olive toned and extremely tall when he was in his more human form. He had wavy hair and thicker lips with a stately nose.

"What is your point?"

"I want to take Bonnie there for Spring Break this year. I also have a plan to take a trip to visit some universities in a week or so. She chose Yale and Columbia. Then we'll go visit more universities this summer. I have plans. I want to spend time with her. I want to parent her. You don't seem to want to."

"I love my daughter."

"I'm not saying you don't. But let me repeat again, I'm going to be here and you won't," Rudy sighed again then took her pen and signed the papers.

Kore made herself scarce for the next couple of days. Rudy had decided to sell his home in Mystic Falls. He never really stayed often in town enough and it was expensive to upkeep. Kore walked in the day Rudy left to see Bonnie crying on the couch. "What's wrong?"

"Is it the witch thing? Is that why he hates me?"

"Oh Bons, he doesn't hate you. I think it's just the reality of things that is hard for him."

"He told you he was selling the house?"

"He mentioned it. But I need you to understand it isn't him giving up on you. I think he had a very hard relationship with my mother. He trusted her but he didn't and he wanted you to have a place to escape her. But, oddly enough, I think he trusts me to have your best interests at heart. Speaking of, we've worked on your academics and now we'll work on your magic."
