The wolves partied the rest of the night. Fredrik felt obligated to do it with them. Kore wasn't bothered by that. But she didn't want to be pregnant and around a bunch of drunk people so she went inside to sleep. Kore was awoken the next morning by a knock on her door. She opened it with a yawn to see Bonnie. "Good morning," Bonnie said happily.
"Did you have ear plugs to keep from hearing all the howling?" she asked with another yawn.
"No, but I'm a witch so I did a spell to muffle the sound," she said, looking at her usually intelligent aunt with confusion.
"I suppose that would have made more sense than just complaining and crying."
"You're pregnant. You're allowed some adjustment. So me and Beks are off for Spring Break. Are you going to be okay here alone with a ll the wolves?"
"I think they're leaving soon. But yes, I'm fine. You all have fun!" she said and hugged her neice,
"Be safe," she told her Aunt.
"Shouldn't I be telling you that?"
"Sure."
"Be safe," she said with a smile and Bonnie walked off. Fredrik came up behind her.
"Have fun!" he called out as he walked up to his love and kissed her, "You sleep alright?"
"Not even in the slightest. I frogot I could have soundproofed my room."
"That's alright. You'll sleep tongiht. Everyone but Graham's pack is leaving now. They've packed up. We'll decide where we are setting up a more permanent house. I'm thinking Rochester. New York."
"I know where it is," she snapped then sighed, "I'm sorry. That all sounds lovely."
"It's alright. Sorry you can't have any caffeine. But what about sugar? Copious amounts of sugar. Like one would find in pancakes?"
"Oh you're going to make me waffles? I'd love some. With chocolate chips inside and bananas on top. And lots of butter and maple syrup."
"Coming right up. I'll bring it. You can relax," he sat her down at the couch and kissed her once more.
Twenty or so minutes later, the doorbell rang. She knew it couldn't be the wolves. Kore got up and walked to the door. She opened it and Caroline was one the other side. "Hey, umm, how are you?" the blonde teen asked awkwardly.
"I'm fine. And yourself?"
"Good, hey is Bonnie home, she isn't answering her phone."
"She's likely on a plane. Or maybe at the airport. Rebekah took her somewhere for Spring Break. I'm sorry." Caroline looked hurt.
"That's okay. Thanks for letting me know." Kore nodded and closed the door.
Fredrik was behind her with her plate of confections. She grabbed it and kissed him before going back to the couch. He sat next to her and they shared it.
Bonnie was on the private jet and she kept thinking of the lie she told her Aunt Kore. The one about having a goodnight sleep. It was a silent night. But in no way peaceful. Bonnie got an awful dream the previous night. "You okay?" Rebekah asked her.
"I'm fine. I just had a bad dream last night."
"About what?"
"Kore." Rebekah was surprised.
"What happened?"
"I saw her standing over all of these dead bodies," she said, the bodies of Caroline, Elena, Matt, and Jeremy, "Then everything lit on fire and there were screams. It was awful. And she was holding a baby." One baby even though she was having two.
"That's odd."
"I know. I'm sure I'm just nervous about something. Kore is the best person I know. She wouldn't harm anyone unless she had to."
"I would agree. So onto happier things. We're going to look at the brownstone then decide how to decorate the nursery and the apartment for my brother and his new children."
"You're really excited aren't you?" Rebekah smiled and nodded.
"I thought it would never happen. But it did. One of my brothers is going to have a baby. And that's the second best thing to happen to me. The first would be if I could. But I'm quite content with the second."
"Your mom took a lot from you."
"You have no idea," she said.
Back in Mystic Falls, Kore was taking a nap.Her head felt heavy. Like it was being put under attack magically. But she didn't know why. She woke up feeling groggy. Fredrik walked in. "You okay? You were tossing and turning."
"I think someone is trying to get in my head. All it's doing is giving me a headache and making me angry."
"Who?"
"I don't know. I'll figure it out after I get some sleep."
Kore woke up and cleansed herself before summoning her mother's ghost. It was easier since it was still technically on the same plane. She appeared quite flesh like but couldn't move out of the circle of candles. "Baby," Sheila said and Kore cried, wishing she could hold her.
"Hi, Mumma," she blubbered.
"Baby," she repeated. They just stared at each other for a moment. So much had happened. Kore almost forgot why she summoned her.
"I know you're not on the Otherside. But do you know who is trying to attack me?"
"I haven't heard anything. But there was an argument last night between Hecate and Atropos."
"Which could literally be about a million things," Kore said with a sigh and her mother chuckled.
"Yes. I see why you liked it here. For an Underworld, it's lively," she told her daughter.
"I know."
"I'll figure out who is trying to get at you. I've been practicing how to move back and forth from the Otherside."
"Why?"
"In case you need me," she said honestly, "Bonnie too."
"Don't work too hard."
"I'll be fine. Just stay safe for those babies," her mother reached her hand out but they couldn't touch. Kore nodded and let her spirit go.
Kore didn't hear back from her mother that night but the ghost of her great grandmother appeared to her. Sheila's grandmother was a no nonsense witch named Mildred "Mean Millie" Bennett. Kore had seen her and she'd appeared in Kore's times of need. Whenever she needed to not be alone. At camp or at college. Mildred appeared wearing the pantsuit she died in. "You know what happened?" she nodded.
"We have a little latch onto our magic. We've handled it," Millie said to her great granddaughter.
"You sure?"
"Yes and No. We've protected you and Bonnie. But your boy and his family are wide open for manipulation. Nothing we can do."
"Is there anything I can do?"
"Well now I can't tell you that sugar."
"You could if you were forthcoming,"
"Is it not enough I give you my company?"
"No. No it isn't. But thank you," Mildred faded away leaving Kore alone with her thoughts. She was tired of everything being a fight and she knew they were no where near finished.
Across town, Klaus' beta wolf walked into the room with Tyler Lockwood, "Your brother has forty wolves he's allied with."
"Allied with? Not turned?" Klaus asked him.
"No. They all still have heart beats."
"So what exactly are they receiving for their loyalty?"
"I don't know."
"Well find out," Klaus said and Tyler nodded before leaving. Klaus didn't want to be Fredrik's enemy. But if Fredrik turned on him for the Bennett witches, he had to pay.
