Kore appreciated the way Bonnie was acting in light of her breakup. SHe'd thrown herself into dance classes. Last semester she'd just taken modern but this time she was in modern and a beginner's ballet. Bonnie knew she was the oldest one in the class but she just wanted to challenge herself. She wouldn't come home until very late at night. Bonnie would come in and there would be food waiting for her and a hot epsom salt bath to help with her soreness. On the seventh week of the dance class, Kore checked in with her. "You're okay, right? I'm not leaving you alone too much?" she asked her.
"I'm fine. I'm good. I feel good. I look good," Bonnie said.
"You do. But you haven't seen your friends in weeks," Kore told her.
"We went to brunch two weeks ago."
"You went with Rebekah and I."
"Is Rebekah not a friend?"
"No she is. And I know she prefers you having you to herself because she is insanely selfish. But I don't think you should leave Caroline in the dust. Or even Elena for that matter. HAve they reached out to you?"
"Caroline yes, Elena at first she did but I haven't heard from her in weeks."
"Well maybe you should invite Caroline on the next shopping trip."
'That sounds like a recipe for disaster and for some reason I can see Caroline and Rebekah bursting into 'Anything You Can DO I Can Do Better' in the middle of Saks." Kore laughed.
"You've been spending too much time with theatre kids," Kore said. It reminded her of camp. And spending time watching the different artistic kids at Camp Halfblood. Bonnie laughed at her aunt.
"Tell me this isn't going to become some insane competition?"
"I can't tell you that for sure. You know them. But I think you can still have both as friends."
There was one other thing on Bonnie's mind. In the ballet class she'd met Ava Blouthe. She was the assistant instructor and the same age. An advanced ballerina. Ava was confident, tall, and very pretty. Bonnie thought at first it was just her looking at another pretty girl. Then her thoughts began to change. She thought of how soft Ava's skin looked. How the room lit up when she smiled. She was the best in the small dance school and everyone thought she would make it. As she showed off her skills and demonstrated the poses, Bonnie found herself not just looking at the long lines. But the curves in some places. That her thighs were tightly toned and her bottom curvier than most ballerinas Bonnie had seen. Ava had talked to Bonnie. Told her that she was impressed that Bonnie was there just because she wanted to be. Bonnie felt her skin flushing hot.
She began to tell herself different things. That maybe it was just being admired by someone who was good. But then she had a dream. And she thought about that dream during her waking moments. Bonnie sat in the bath and sighed, she didn't want to be any more different than she already was. She wanted the feelings to go away.
"Bonnie, are you listening to me?" Caroline asked her two days later when they were getting some lunch at the Grill.
"What?" Bonnie asked. She'd been thinking about Ava.
"You totally weren't listening to me. What's got your head all over the place?"
"Nothing."
"You sure?"
"Yeah," Bonnie said with a quick nod. She didn't know how Caroline would take her thoughts. Or if she'd even believe her.
"So?"
"Huh?"
"We were talking about shopping for prom."
"But that's not for months."
