The next day, Kore went to the market again to waste time as Bonnie was at the hospital with Caroline. She didn't like grocery stores anymore. You always ran into people. That trip, she ran into Mason Lockwood. They were of similar ages just like Jenna. "Mason, is that you?" she asked. He looked good, she couldn't deny that.

"Wait, Kore?" he asked as he came closer.

"Duh."

"You look-" he seemed speechless and she shook her curls with a shrug "Well nice to see you back in town." Kore peered at him suspiciously.

"You seem way too happy for someone who just lost their brother."

"You did meet him, right?"

"Once or twice I think."

"So the little siblings are back," he said to her as they began walking down one of the aisles.

"Yeah well our older siblings are all dead so I think we might have made better decisions."

"But I thought Abby-" She waved him off.

"She might as well be dead," she said then stopped her cart and turned to look at him, "What are you doing here, Mason? You hate this place."

"So do you."

"I have Bonnie."

"I have Tyler." She rolled her eyes and he smirked. "What?"

"Nothing, Mason."

"Whatever, Kore." She rolled her eyes again and turned the opposite way to walk away. "You look good," he called out after her.

"I know."

Later that day, Kore was getting ready to leave the house. She was annoyed about it. "Why can't I just stay home and let you go to the carnival by yourself?" Kore asked.

"Because Stefan and Damon are thinking something is off about the Lockwoods. And I know how you are."

"So you want me to come just in case you need to do magic?"

"No I need you to come along because I will likely have to do magic to save my life."

"This is sounding like a reason we should just stay her. I made kefta," she said, holding up several foil wrapped packages.

"Which is a food to be eaten on the go. Come on, Aunt Kore. I do everything you ask of me. I've looked into my future and I'm starting those dance classes next week. Can you just do this for me?"

"But there will be so many teenagers,"

"You'll blend right in." Kore rolled her eyes but followed after Bonnie.

That night, Bonnie flirted with a guy she met when she'd were setting up the fair. Kore smirked. He was actually kinda cute so Kore was happy for her. She was just eating her kefta when she felt someone behind her. "Didn't think this was your kind of thing," Mason said from behind her.

"It isn't. But my niece is here. So here I am. How's bonding with Tyler?"

"Kid's kind of an asshole," he said and she laughed. Then offered him on of her other servings of kefta. He took a bite and moaned. "This is so good."

"Thank you."

"So what's it take to get a full invite to dinner from you?"

"Are you really flirting with me, right now?" she asked him, turning to look at him. They were of similar heights.

"What if I am?" She shook her head and backed away.

"You couldn't handle me, Mason," she said, walking away.

Kore had left the carnival to smoke a cigarette by herself. Then she felt it. Death coming. She threw her cigarette to the side and took off into a jog. There she saw Caroline. "Hey, Caroline, remember me?" she asked the blonde. She seemed to be upset and crying.

"I don't know what's wrong with me," she cried

"You're a vampire, honey. At least that's what I think, it's okay. We can fix this," Kore said to her. She didn't know how the girl would react. They were walking, Kore tried to lead her away from the people.

"What is that smell?" she asked then vampire ran away. Kore ran after her, luckily she had demigoddess stamina and she didn't go far. Caroline had found her way to the guy that had been flirting with Bonnie earlier. It looked like his face had gotten torn up. Caroline came up behind him and Kore could see her fight herself before biting the guy.

"No!" Kore shouted and waved her hand. Caroline flew back and Kore headed over to the boy. She put her jacket on his wound and her eyes glowed silver as she kept his soul there. Bonnie and Damon arrived.

"Aunt Kore! Carter!" She cried as she looked at her aunt. Kore felt Damon and took one hand and dragged him down.

"Blood now!" she shouted, her voice sounded otherworldly. Damon was in a trance as he bit his wrist and put it to Carter's mouth. Enough dripped in and he stopped convulsing as he was being healed. Damon shook off whatever it was then looked at Kore as her eyes dimmed back to their hazel color. He looked confused and nervous but then his attention turned to Caroline.

"Who turned the Barbie?" Damon asked as he grabbed a spare piece of wood on the ground.

"Stay away from her," Kore threw him back. Stefan and Elena rushed over.

"We need to get Carter somewhere safe," Bonnie said.

"We can take him home," Kore looked at Stefan, "Can I trust you to get Caroline home safe and alive? Well alive-ish?" Stefan nodded. "I'll bring a daylight ring tomorrow." She grabbed Carter off the floor easily and carried him to her car.

Bonnie sat and watched Carter. "He's going to wake soon. What should we tell him?"

"There are spells to remove part of a memory. That's what we do."

"What was that with Damon?"

"I don't know. I've never done that before," she said honestly. She could see why it was possible. Vampires were technically dead things and her father was the god of the underworld. Her other magics from him were death related. Why not this new one? "I need to go make Caroline's daylight ring." Bonnie stood up quickly and followed Kore to her witchcraft mini workshop towards the back of the house.

"Are you kidding? After what she did?" Kore turned around and studied her niece.

"She did not choose this. The vampire blood was almost out of her system. Someone did this to her. Be smart, Bonnie. Why would someone turn Caroline?"

"I don't know."

"Exactly. We have to figure it out.Do you know what Caroline's life will be now? Vampires have it worse than gods. She has basically been signed up for a life of therapy. She will never have a fully developed brain. Immature impulses not to mention any trauma that she's yet to work through. She'll have to watch as you and your friend, Elena, go through life." Bonnie felt saddened. But they couldn't concentrate on that as Carter was waking and they had to do the spell.

They dropped Carter off at the house listed on his license then left. He wouldn't remember anything but flirting with the cute girl then working the carnival. The rest would be a blur. They could still compel him if they needed to but Kore had faith in their magic. Neither she nor Bonnie would need vampires, not then, not ever.
