Dinner was...interesting. It started with Fredrik showing Rebekah around the house while Bonnie and Kore were cooking dinner. "She doesn't look like the type to get her hands dirty," Bonnie said as she rolled out some pita dough Kore had ready made. Kore was building a spanakopita and they had some beef marinating to throw on a stovetop grill.
"She's not. But not everyone is the same. The Mikaelsons have lived majority of their lives well off. Even when they were human."
"Then how is it Fredrik is so down to earth?"
"Just special I guess. I honestly can't explain it," she said, not wanting to mention that Finn was also quite down to earth. He didn't care for the finer things in life or being waited on hand and foot. He wanted what most people wanted. Security, whether that be food, emotional, or financial.
"You got the good Mikaelson," she said.
"You got that right," Rebekah said from behind them. They turned to see the siblings in the kitchen, "Rik says you're a great cook, Kore."
"Chef, I said," Fredrik corrected her.
"What's the difference?"
"A discernment is made nowadays. Not that I am deserving of it. He is saying my food is better than normal. Relax. I have some champagne in the wine fridge. I also have other wines. Feel free to take a look. Hard liquor is in the locked cabinet but Fredrik has a key."
"Aren't you just a lovely hostess," Rebekah said as she walked towards the hard liquor. Fredrik walked behind Kore.
"Can I help, love?"
"No. You should call your friends before your brother finds them."
"He doesn't have a witch right now, it will take him longer."
"To find a witch by threatening their closest relative. You have maybe two weeks,"
"Yeah, you're right. I'll start making the calls. How did I get lucky to get a woman so smart?" he asked and kissed her cheek.
Dinner was actually quite nice. Fredrik mostly told stories of what Rebekah had missed since the twenties. "Oh and Chanel."
"I know that one! Doing amazing. Wonder if I have my investment papers somewhere," Rebekah said.
"You invested in Chanel?"
"Of course. From the moment I saw it I knew the brand would be iconic. And I was right. We've done that a lot."
"It's true. I have IBM and Apple stock from the beginning. As well as Walmart and a couple companies that own malls.I just knew," Fredrik said.
"Brother, I don't know half those words," Rebekah said.
"But I do. You're like rich rich," Bonnie said.
"Bonnie!" Kore objected.
"What? He is."
"You're not wrong. SHouldn't you be getting to bed? I thought you were going somewhere with Jeremy tomorrow."
"The puppy younger brother?" Rebekah asked as Bonnie got up.
"My boyfriend," Bonnie said as she left the room.
"She'll get over it," Fredrik reassured Kore.
"We hope," she replied then stood up, "I should clean up."
"No. I will."
"Fine. I'll be in the bath," she said and winked at him.
"Well I'm leaving," Rebekah said as she grimaced.
"Let me take you to my house. You can stay there. It isn't the biggest but it's your own space."
"Fine. Better than staying here with you three. Happy families and all," she rolled her eyes.
"What's wrong with that?"
"Nothing brother. It is everything you deserve."
"Then why do I sense you're upset?"
"I'm not mad with you. I've never been able to be upset with you."
"And I've always taken advantage of that."
"On that we can agree."
Fredrik walked into the bathroom to see steam still rising. Kore was there with her eyes closed but he knew she wasn't asleep. "A naked woman waiting and it takes you an hour?" she asked him as she opened her eyes. Her curls were piled on top of her head.
"My apologies. I took Rebekah then made those calls. I wanted to have my head completely clear."
"You're lucky I want all your attention on me," she said as he took off his shirt then his pants.
They were back to their normal routine days later when Bonnie came rushing in. "Have you seen ghosts around?" she asked Kore panicked.
"Did you forget I always see ghosts?" Kore asked her.
"Well there are ghosts everywhere. And they want me to take down the veil." Kore stood up.
"You can't do that."
"I know!"
"So we have to talk to-" Kore started paying attention to all the ghosts around. One was her great grandmother. "Do you know anything?" The woman silently shook her head. "Damn, we need to find someone in the know. All the ghosts around me know nothing. And my mother is in the underworld."
"Can you ask your Dad why the veil is down?"
"The veil isn't his. They're ghosts that are basically in limbo. He handles real dead things."
"Okay, then what?"
"Like I said, we keep talking to ghosts until we find someone that knows something."
It was unfortunate that they went on the journey. It led them to the Gilbert house. When Jenna answered, she let them both up the stairs. They walked to Jeremy's room and opened the door to see him kissing a girl. They separated and looked to the door. "Bonnie," Jeremy said. The girl, Anna, also looked like she knew Bonnie.
"Do you know what's happening? Why are you here?" Bonnie asked, she'd breakdown later.
"You opened the door when you saved Jeremy," the vampire explained.
"And now?"
"Someone is using it to keep it open. The rumor is that it's the Original witch," she said sounding impressive.
"There's no way that is the first witch," Kore laughed then stopped, "Unless that's a title. Like the Originals."
"What? Like who?" Bonnie asked, ignoring Jeremy and Anna.
"Like I might meet my future mother in law unless we find some way to keep the bitch dead," Kore said as she started walking out. Bonnie followed behind her then turned and ran back.
"You know that we are done right? And that she will be dead by tonight? Again?" Bonnie asked them, "So, have fun." Bonnie walked back to her Aunt's car.
"Are you okay?" Kore asked her when she got in and shut the door.
"Ask me tomorrow. Let's just fix this today."
