"Okay so we have cookie dough, ice cream, brownies, macarons, cupcakes, a whole double chocolate cake, and something you both insisted upon which was this cheesecake," Rebekah said as she walked into the Bennett living room, arms filled with treats. It was hours later, after the witches had completed the spell to close the access to the other side. Rebekah's necklace had to be destroyed as a talisman. Elena was bothered but Rebekah let it go immediately. Now it was time for them to move on to the next issue. Bonnie's heart.
"Why do we need all of this?"
"Well I've been updating myself through movies and television. Asshole cheats, girl and friends eat such food," Rebekah said.
"Where's my aunt?" Bonnie asked. Kore had been treating Bonnie like she was made of glass.
"Cooking. I'm beginning to think she cooks when she's stressed. Or going through any large emotion."
"You wouldn't be wrong," Bonnie said with a nod. Rebekah put down all the food then grabbed a macaron.
"Dig in," Rebekah said as she turned on the television.
"Why are you being so nice?"
"Because you'll be Fredrik's niece most of your life. So you're kind of mine too. And baby Gilbert is a complete idiot for cheating on you."
"Thanks. But I don't think he's stupid. I think I am. He wasn't over her."
"She was dead."
"He didn't care. No life with her was better than a whole life with me."
"It was puppy love. Hey, at least your brother didn't kill him."
"I'm guessing that's what happened to you?"
"Several times. Or he compelled Stefan to forget me. Or he told them to pick, a life of immortality or a human life as my husband. And he chose wrong." They turned on Fifty First Dates.
"Why this one?" Bonnie asked as she picked up a spoon and the cookie dough.
"Because this is what we all need. A man slightly unattractive and very funny."
"You don't believe that," Bonnie told her. Rebekah laughed.
"No, I don't. But sometimes thinking about the opposite helps you feel better. Now watch," she said.
Kore was in the kitchen and Fredrik walked through the back door. "You are cooking," he said to his girlfriend.
"I am. I need to keep my hands busy. Or else I will go kill that fucking-"
"He's a teenager." She stopped chopping vegetables and looked at him.
"So?"
"So you cannot kill a teenager, even if he has broken your niece's heart."
"And why can't I?" He chuckled and wrapped his arms around her.
"You know why not." She groaned and kissed him before starting to chop again, "What are you making?" She smirked.
"I have no clue. A ragu or bolognese sauce for sure. Only way to use all of these vegetables. wIll you grab some pasta dough from the fridge and roll it out?" They'd taken a couples pasta making class in Italy.
"Of course I can. But a bit too early to roll it out, you haven't made the sauce."
"Fine then grab the sausage and start browning it."
"I can do that."
They finished the food and Fredrik got his plate and took it to their bedroom. He knew the last thing Bonnie wanted to be around was her aunt and her boyfriend. Kore walked the large bowl of pasta out. It was covered in freshly grated parmesan but Kore also had some more on the side. Obviously cheese could fill the emptiness inside of a person after a breakup. "I bring real food," she said, putting it on the table in the middle of all the picked upon desserts.
"Took you long enough," Bonnie said and started dishing herself some food, "Since when did you start making Italian food?"
"We took cooking classes in every country."
"Oh that's so sweet," Bonnie said.
"I am missing the sweetness but the pasta is lovely," Rebekah said.
"What are we watching now?"
"More Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler."
"Oh fun. New or old?"
"New. Blended."
"Oh, bit cheesy but I like this one good enough," she said and laid back next to Bonnie, eating some past herself.
Bonnie avoided her friends for the next couple of days. She wondered if Jeremy had told them about Anna. She got her answer when she arrived at school eventually. Caroline and Elena rushed up to her. "Why haven't you been answering my calls?" Caroline asked.
"Are you avoiding me because of him? I didn't know, Bonnie," Elena said.
"I know you didn't know, Elena. That's not why. I just didn't want to talk to anyone."
"Aw honey, are you feeling alright?" Caroline asked. Bonnie smiled softly.
"Yes, I'm actually kind of okay with it. I liked Jeremy but to be honest, I was kind of just with him because he was the first guy who showed any genuine interest in me. But just because he's the first doesn't mean eh's going to be the last. I want what Fredrik and my Aunt Kore have. And I might have to leave Mystic Falls to do so. I'm so okay with that. Like this Christmas, we're going to Switzerland. I'm actually so excited about it," she said, walking past them and into school.
"But Bonnie, I mean, you shouldn't just forget about Jeremy so easily, you liked him a lot and with the veil back up-" Elena started. Bonnie turned to her with a barely contained glare. It frightened both girls at first.
"Umm, I don't know if you know this, because you are always multiple people's first option, but most women don't want to be with a guy because the girl he really wants to be with is dead. I should be the first option. I will be the first option. I'm beautiful and smart and very flexible. Someone will appreciate me like the goddess that I am," Bonnie said.
"Direct quote and you're damn right," the three girls heard and Caroline thought she'd said the last part. She certainly said it in her head but she didn't have a British accent. They looked to the right to see Rebekah had appeared.
"What are you doing here?" Elena asked.
"Bons didn't tell you? I've decided to go to school. Rik said it would be good for me. Distract from the obvious abandonment issues. Maybe Bons and I will go to NYU together." Rebekah said nothing else before she walked in school. Caroline and Elena looked to Bonnie with confused faces but the witch also explained nothing.
