The feast was soon over and I decided that I would check in on Harry. I knew he would be bummed that I got Slytherin but I was just happy we were now going to the same school.
"Hey Harry!" I said as I ran to catch up with him in the hall. He was walking with a Red-headed boy and a brunette female. The boy looked a lot like Ginny, but he looked grouchy.
"Oh, hey Scarlett." My brother said as he turned to me. "You should probably go with your friends and find your common room, I can't help you if you can't find it later."
He seemed angry? I wouldn't know why but it was whatever. I quickly nodded and took his advice running over to Daphne and Theodore walking to the common room.
As we walked I noticed that Draco was looking over at us. Daphne followed my eyes, "He's your brothers biggest enemy, always tries to get him in trouble or get him wound up. If I was you, I would stay out of Malfoy's way." She informed me.
I didn't expect my first day to be so dramatic. I guess Hogwarts was different in that aspect. Beauxbatons was quite terrible however the drama was after a few days and wasn't automatic.
I smiled as we walked down the last flight of stairs. The dungeons were quite cold. Not particularly my taste, but at least they weren't hot, I hated feeling hot.
Soon enough we found a room and a boy said the word "pureblood" just like that the door opened and we were able to walk in. The common room was absolutely stunning.
The dark gray bricks that lined the wall matched perfectly with the black and green furniture. It was quite grand. There were beautiful tall bookshelves with dark books that perfectly matched the aesthetic, along with candles and plants. The room also featured tables of wizard chess and a few tables for studying which I appreciated. Most of all though I was drawn to the windows, since the room was placed under the rest of the school, the room was built next to the lakes that surrounded the school. You could see many creatures and sea plants growing right outside the window. It was absolutely magical.
"Did Beauxbatons not have rooms?" The boy Daphne told me was named Blaise asked. I was instantly awoken from my admiring. "Oh, we did they just weren't nearly as stunning!" I exclaimed letting my excitement show.
Blaise nodded , "well, the common room is pretty spectacular, if you ever wanted to see more of the castle let me know, I'm kind of a genius of the place." As Blaise finished speaking I could hear Daphne snort.
"I'm sorry Blaise, have you even entered the Library before? I don't think you're the best one to give a tour." Daphne laughed as she stepped next to me placing her hand on my shoulder.
"Don't worry, she's got an actual tour guide, and I know where our classes are not just make out spots." She laughed as she started to walk.
Daphne was nice, she seemed like a true friend which is nice. As we made our way up another set of stairs we made it to a bedroom.
The dorm held four beds and was very pretty. Daphne and I took beds next to each other and started to set out our things.
I was growing quite tired and began my bed time routine in the bathroom when two girls walked in. The one was Pansy and the other I didn't recognize. I already felt very socially drained though so I left the introductions to another day.
Daphne soon joined me and began getting ready herself. As I brushed my teeth I admired her skin care routine. I was never one to motivate myself into doing skin care so I never really got into it.
I went into the separate bathroom section and changed into my pajamas. I put on a t-shirt which I stole from my brother and some shorts. As I went to the common room though, I noticed I wasn't as tired as I thought i would be.
"Hey Daphne?" I ask looking over at my friend who was now laying in her bed. She let out a questioning hum and I turned to face her. She was reading a book but looked up to make eye contact as I talked.
"I was just wanting to thank you. You've been super sweet to me already." She looked shocked as she listened.
"I didn't do anything special Scarlett, anyone would've helped you find your way, it's the right thing. You're the super sweet one! You've done nothing but be kind since we met." We smiled as I sat up to face her sitting at the edge of my bed.
"This is going to sound cringe but I've never had a friend before. Literally ever. Not because I didn't want one but at Beauxbatons things were just different. I had one friend named Sophia, but other than that I was very alone. I've never had someone who just right away clicked and I really appreciate you."
Daphne smiled setting her book down and sitting up to hug me. I began to giggle. "I'm sorry that was super dramatic" we both laugh as we let go of our hug.
"You're funny Scarlett. And I appreciate you saying that. Slytherin can be hard to find the right people, a lot only care about blood status or wealth, but I hope you can realize that I'm not like that."
I shook my head "don't worry, I can already tell you're far better than that. I can also tell you've got a big heart!" I giggle as I flop back onto the bed letting my body spread out taking up more space.
"I think I'm going to get some rest, goodnight Scarlett" "goodnight Daphne."
Daphne was sweet, so far everyone I've talked to was sweet for that matter. Things just seemed different at Hogwarts I felt as though I belonged. Maybe not from every aspect yet, but overall I was happy that I could make myself feel at home. Maybe one day, I could call this place my home.
