After dinner Daphne, Theodore, and I always went and hung out it the common room. It was almost ten when Flint came in and told everyone there was an emergency and we had to meet in the great hall.
The three of us exchanged curious and worried faces. I was partially more worried than then because I assumed it had to do with Harry.
I was still unable to forget about his tea leaves and the grim. While it seemed unlikely, a part of me worried for what would come of Harry's fate.
"This is strange." Daphne marveled as we walked with the other Slytherins. "Only other time we did something like this was when that bloody basilisk came slithering around." Theo added.
I remembered all the letters that followed the day Harry caught the basilisk. If today was anything like then I was petrified.
"I'm sure everything is fine." I reassured them. They didn't really need it but I did. Daphne nodded her head in agreement.
When we arrived, I met Harry's eyes. He looked nervous as well, but he looked like he knew something which was better than me.
"We are conducting a search of the school, please stay here. This will most likely take the full night and it's best if you stay here." Dumbledore informed us.
He quickly moved the tables out of the way and summoned piles upon piles of sleeping bags.
As soon as the teachers were gone the hall began to buzz. The Gryffindors telling everyone what had happened.
The poor Fat Lady whoever was trying to break in must've been pure evil.
We each grabbed a sleeping bag and Daphne, Theo, and I set out for a sleeping bag near a wall. We all sat them next to eachother.
It wasn't long until one of the Weasley boys were yelling about lights out. As I searched for Harry, I noticed that he and his friends all were gossiping.
Apparently, many believed it was the Sirius Black man that Malfoy was talking about a few weeks ago in potions.
I wanted to ask him what he was going to say that day. I was sure that whatever information he held would be beneficial for my own personal gain.
Before I was able to ask though, Daphne started to talk "I wonder how he got into the school." Daphne thought aloud.
Theo was the first to respond suggesting that he may have apparated. I didn't buy it though.
Hogwarts was known for the special dome that was placed in order to keep uninvited people out. The dome also stopped the ability to apparate in.
"Maybe he came in through a secret passage. I assume they could block them off, post more dementors in the spots at least. I'm sure it'll be fine." I said shrugging.
I wasn't so calm in my mind though. Sirius Black was obviously a bad man if he could just escape and break in wherever he pleased. Not to mention there was obviously some secret about him that Malfoy knew, something threatening to Harry and I.
I knew that I wouldn't be able to sleep that night, not for a moment. Before the older Weasley boy called lights out I ran over to Harry. Some Gryffindors gave me looks of disgust, most likely because of my house, but I honestly didn't care.
"Harry do you know what's going on?" I whispered. He shook him head quickly. I let out a sigh before turning to his friends.
"I don't think we've ever actually met. I'm Scarlett Harry's sister. You must be Hermione and Ron." I smiled.
"Yes I'm Hermione, your brother has told us so much about you. It's great to meet you Scarlett. Feel free to stop by and sit with us at meals or any other time, honestly we could use more feminine energy." Hermione laughed.
Ron scoffed before Hermione elbowed him, "bloody hell. What was that for?" It was as if Hermione could speak with her eyes. Within seconds Ron cleared his throat.
"Oh uh yeah. I'm Ron, nice to talk to you and what Hermione said."
It was obvious Ron still wasn't really warmed up to me yet. I suppose on one hand it made sense, but with time he seemed nice.
"Well it was lovely to meet you both. Harry, I'm going to go lay down now. It was truly a pleasure." Harry and I hugged before I walked back.
As soon as I flopped down Malfoy's irritating voice sounded. "Aww the two Potters what a cute little family. A little sad isn't it? His friends are a mudblood and a poor ginger."
I turned to face him, "Thanks for calling me cute Malfoy, but I'm not interested. Also can we not use that word? Who even cares about blood status or wealth?"
Malfoys mouth opened slightly, "I don't think you're cute Potter. I don't even, what- ugh."
Daphne and I giggled. Honestly, in all of Malfoy and I's discussions he was normally able to stand his ground and look cool, but tonight he fumbled. Even Crabbe and Goyle were chuckling for a moment, that was until Malfoy Glared at them.
After that it was lights out in the hall. Some kids were still whispering or messing around, but it grew eerily quite fast.
Daphne fell asleep almost instantly which made me giggle. I guess she was at Hogsmeade all day, of course she was tired. Theo was also asleep just as fast.
There was still a few candles that were glowing leaving a dim light. It was honestly a little peaceful being in the hall, the school felt united in an uncomfortable way.
I scanned the room and when I met Malfoy, I realized he was also awake.
It was almost uncomfortable, we were making awkward eye contact. He looked very stern, but terribly tired.
I gave him a 'what do you want?' face. He gave it a moment before waving me over.
What the hell did he want?
I tiptoed my way over to his sleeping bag. I passed Theo and Blaise and then sat down in between him and Crabbe.
Crabbe was already snoring and I decided he was probably asleep enough that he wouldn't even flinch at my whispering.
"What Malfoy?" I questioned. Just like the fireplace, the lighting of the candles reflected on Malfoys many rings, I was again drawn to them.
"There was something I didn't tell you when we were talking about Sirius Black during potions."
Yeah, that was pretty obvious. You were stuttering and then just changed the subject.
"But, you can't tell anyone okay? Not even boy Potter, because he'll get all anxious and annoy me."
I started to get up, he was obviously just trying to cause drama. Before I was able to stand though, Malfoy grabbed into my wrist.
His hands were incredibly cold, like ice. We both froze for a moment before I sat back down and he let go of my wrist.
"Potter, there's a rumor that Sirius Black- well he's partially the reason your parents died. According to rumors, he told- he told him where your parents were. And now, some believe that Black wants revenge. On you and your brother."
"Oh." I let out a deep breath as I started to fiddle my thumbs. It was a lot to take in. I couldn't decide if I was mad, sad, or an even mix of both.
This year as a whole I've been reminded again and again that my parents are dead. I was able to forget a little at Beauxbatons, but here, I was surrounded.
I stood up again and this time Malfoy didn't try to fight me. I wanted to tell my brother, but unfortunately Malfoy was right, Harry would've gone bonkers.
I began to cry the moment I got back into my own sleeping bag. Not aloud just silent sobs.
I wanted my mommy. I wanted my parents to be able to tell me everything was okay. I needed them. It was so unfair.
Why me?
My thoughts began to tire me so much that I fell asleep. My nightmares were no different that night.
I was still being taunted by a black dog that was chasing after me.
