When I woke the next morning I felt groggy. My train travels catching up to my body. I was never a good traveler due to motion sickness, luckily I wasn't nearly as bad as before.
I was however super excited. It was my first real day at Hogwarts and I was going to rock it. I quickly put in my uniform. As I looked in the mirror I realized how well the green in my tie suited my black hair.
Speaking of my hair, it was entirely too messy. My brother and I always faced this issue. We were told by our aunt that our father always had messy hair. Harry was lucky though, he just chopped it and was able to let it go. I wasn't as lucky. My hair was beautiful long and if I took time out of my day, it could look presentable, but this meant waking up early just to do my hair.
After a few minutes of fighting with my hair it looked good. I put on some mascara and some lip gloss and I was ready. When I got back into the room Daphne was already ready putting her shoes on as she stood.
"Are you excited for your first day?" She asked me as she walked towards the door. "Yes! I'm so excited. Whenever you're ready we can make our way down to the Great Hall for breakfast. She opened the door that lead to the common room.
"Okay girl, let's do this thing!"
Daphne and I talked while walking up the stairs that led to the Great Hall. I was walking a slightly faster pace than normal eager to eat again. As we turned a corner my fast pace caught up to me and I quickly ran into Draco Malfoy.
"Oi! Watch where you're going would you Potter?" He asked as he stood blocking Daphne and I's way. "Excuse me can you get out of my way?" Malfoy shook his head moving to block me as I walked.
"I'll let you through If you ask nicely." He smirked chuckling as he did so. "It's not worth it Scarlett, he just wants a reaction, we can go the other way." Daphne offers as she goes to turn.
"No," I challenge, "we don't owe this bloke anything. If he knows what's good for him he'll move." I step close looking up at Draco challenging him. He smirked, he was obviously eating this up.
"Hey I'm fine waiting here all day Potter, my father can get me out of any situation this may land me. You on the other hand aren't so lucky, your parents are actually no where to be seen, have any clue where they went off to?" He laughed.
His smirk was evil. It's one thing to be funny but the moment he brought my parents i to the equation I was furious. Just as I pulled my wand out of my pocket I heard my brother.
"Scarlett! What are you thinking!" He said as he snatched my wand from my hand. "I WAS about to hex Malfoy, but you've made that a little hard to accomplish." I informed my brother as I reached for my wand he was now holding out of reach.
"Malfoy, I don't know what you said to my sister, but whatever it was you need to stop now or you will face serious consequences." Harry grabbed my hand and dragged me into a separate hall.
"Seriously Scarlett you've been alone for what? A night! A few hours? And you already are misbehaving. Listen I get it, Malfoys a git, but you need to get yourself under control before you are send straight back to Beauxbatons. It's a privilege to transfer this far Into the game. Maybe they were right putting you into Slytherin, I thought no my sister doesn't match that at all, but maybe I just dont know you anymore." Harry stormed off probably to meet with his friends.
I groaned meeting back with Daphne so we could actually get breakfast.
Theo sat with us again for breakfast. He slept in so we still beat him there. I allowed for Daphne and him to do most of the talking. I listed, nodding and humming in agreement when necessary. My mind however wasn't entirely there.
I was distracted. What did Harry mean about me being put into Slytherin. So far most of them have been nothing but kind. I didn't think that my house would put such a toll on my brother's life.
As I thought about Harry I was drawn to think about Mom and Dad. I missed them. I didn't know them, but I missed them.
If they were here it would've been easier, better. My mother would've helped my brother and I bond better and my father would've allowed for us to get into just a little bit of trouble. We would've been happy. Not that I wasn't happy per se, I just wasn't complete.
"Earth to Scarlett." I heard Theo say. I shook my head. "What?" I asked turning my head to face him. "I said how was your little fight?" "Oh well,"
I thought back to how aggravated I was just minutes prior to then. "Malfoy is stupid and I don't really like him. But my brother stopped me before I was able to hex him." Theodore laughed. "I'm sorry Scarlett but Malfoy would've killed you if you hexed him. And He probably would win a duel. He's currently the top Slytherin and Second in our class. If you want to beat Malfoy you need to find something other than magic to beat him at."
I groan letting my head fall to the table. "What class do we have first?" I asked sitting back up. "Divination" she informed me. Theo laughed "oh god not Divination with moody Trelawney." "It could be worse, she's just an old lady trying to help us see the world, let her be." Daphne and Theo broke out into giggles. I didn't understand yet but I soon would.
