After Christmas, Adrian and I spent the rest of break hanging out, studying, and also hanging out with my brother and his friends.
It was a little odd honestly, a few months ago Harry acted as though me having Slytherin friends was killing him, now he supports me hanging out with one.
He told me it was because Adrian never cheats in quidditch which is rare for the Slytherin house, the day these boys stop caring so much about quidditch should be named a national holiday.
My hope was that through this he is more interested in spending time with Daphne and Theo as well.
"I'm so excited for Daphne to come back! We've sent letters, but it's not the same." I said as I sat down on a bean bag next to Adrian in the library.
Back to school means back to studying, gross.
"I'm ready for the castle to be filled again, I like spending time with you Potter, but it's too damn quiet." He laughed pulling out his book for his advanced potions class.
I would forget that he's older until he would start to study and it would be made obvious I have no clue what he's talking about.
"After breaks over are you going to pretend we don't know each other?" I asked pulling out my own book on potions.
"Nah, you're too cool for that. Besides I'm not evil." He laughed looking back down at his book.
I guess through this time I learned that was true, but I know that Slytherin boys have this easily broken pride and I didn't want another boy to completely ignore me.
Malfoy never wrote me back, I supposed I didn't blame him, I was rude, but ignoring me completely felt harsh.
I thought he would write back, but yesterday Hedwig came flying back to me a paper in her mouth. I excitedly took it, immediately smiling, until I realized it was a little ripped off piece of parchment that read, fuck off - D.M.
Lyra and I snuggled up last night and she sat with me as I cried, not a lot just a few tears. After a few moments I realized I was being stupid and I threw the small letter into the fireplace.
I wasn't going to sit around and cry over a boy I didn't even really think I liked, I was confused and Draco was there, but now he's not there and I'm not confused.
"Do you want to go back to the common room and hang out with Lyra?" I asked closing my book. I was already done with school work and wanted to enjoy my last night of break.
Adrian nodded standing up and reaching out his hand for me to grab. "What a gentleman." I teased as he helped me up, sticking out his tongue as I giggled.
That night we ended up talking about all our fears going into the next semester. Classes becoming more difficult, homework multiplying, less time for goofing around. We went on and on far later than we should've, but it was worth it.
At 3:13 Adrian sighed, "Potter it's getting late, we should probably go to bed."
I immediately agreed, I was too tired to verbally respond so I just nodded my head as I stood.
"Goodnight Potter, goodnight Lyra." He smirked giving Lyra a small kiss on her head before turning to go to his dorm.
Nights with Adrian were fun, but they made me miss all the nights Malfoy and I ran into each other in the common room.

The next morning I was waken by Daphne squealing. I jumped up "what's wrong?" I asked panicked. She giggled holding Lyra in her arms.
