The night wasn't too bad I guess. I spent most of the time sitting next to Bella listening into their private conversations and really feeling the fact that I was a third wheel. Bella came to the conclusion he was a mind reader, but apparently that is perfectly fine and does not mean anything. Edward cannot read Bella's mind, and can sort of read mine. He says it is just more quiet than others. On the bright side the food was pretty good, and it was on Eddie-boy. I was dreading the way back. I really would hate to die in a car accident. I was going to go out with a bang. Getting into a car crash because an idiot vampire does not know how to drive was quite a pathetic way to die. Too soon Edward was paying. I was torn. On one hand I was very tired, and wanted to go home and sleep off the day. On the other hand, I was not too keen on getting in a car with a vampire who thinks he is in a race with time itself. By the time we were walking out I was annoyed at the fact that I was in this position. I could have gone home with Jessica and Angela and people who drive normally. Alas, I was stuck here, with a vampire, and a sister who was head over heels for said vampire. I tried my hardest not to show my fear and got into the car with my head held high, though I am sure my heart could be heard by anyone within a two mile radius. Some may say that you can close your eyes and everything will be fine, but no. That's not how it works for me. I have to see everything. It's dumb but I would like to see my impending doom. So now I was glued to the black leather seats of the vampires silver Volvo, wide-eyed and trying not to have a panic attack. Meanwhile, Bella and Edward were chatting it up in the front seat, not even noticing me back here. For the insane speed at which Edward was driving we did not get to Charlie's soon enough. When we finally did I leapt out of the car and dashed inside. I had a strange urge to hug the solid ground. I resisted it, instead dashing toward my room screeching about third-wheels and how much I hated cars. Charlie did not even bat an eye, obviously Renee had told him of some of my more theoretical tendencies. When I finally reached my destination I immediately plopped down on my bed. I waited for the world to stop spinning and the walls to stop closing in. Eventually I felt better, only to groan when I realized I still had to take a shower. I also made the executive decision not to tell Charlie about my little street fight. Well, it could and will be labeled as self-defense. With an exaggerated groan I gathered stuff to shower. I was feeling very dramatic tonight. However much I complained I still enjoyed the scorching water on my back. It was a good time to reflect on the day's events. This morning, I was annoyed at school. Then I was annoyed by Bella's friends. After that, I was annoyed by drunk men trying to attack Bella and I. And finally, I was annoyed by Bella's vampire boyfriend to be. Bottom line, I did enjoy this day. After I finished my shower, I ran a brush through my hair, then stomped to my room. I yelled a goodnight to Charlie then flicked off my bedroom lights to relax in the dark. I was currently sitting cross-legged on my bed, just listening. I didn't want to sleep. I didn't want to listen to my own mind. So I listened to the crickets and frogs. Somewhere in the distance a wolf howled. It made me think of the Quileute stories. I quickly changed my train of thought. I resumed listening to the sounds of the outdoors. There was something different though. There was the surface of the sounds, like the crickets and frogs, but when I concentrated there was more. There was another layer of sound. One's whispered to me by the wind, murmured by the earth. The distant trickle of water in a creek. Except there was no creek nearby. There was a disturbance in the wind, something unnatural. It was near Bella's window. I don't know how I knew this. I could just sense it. As quietly as possible I got up. I was happy with my decision to wear socks, for they muffled my footsteps. There was a creak, then the lightest thud. It was in Bella's room. I changed my gait to a light run. I slipped quietly into Bella's room to see a dark figure. Before I could say anything, it was gone. The only trace of it was a light wind. I knew what it was. It was a vampire. I was willing to bet it was Edward Cullen.
