I sat in Bella's room like a creep for a while. It made me nervous that there might have been a vampire in her room. Actually it would have made me nervous if anyone was in her room, but vampires are just extra creepy. Once I was practically falling asleep on the wall I went back to my bed. I hoped that him getting caught would keep him away for tonight. I was out like a light when my head hit the pillow. The next morning was much the same as the previous. I followed the same routine once again. Once again it landed me in the lunchroom next to Wren who was chattering mindlessly to Violet next to her. The Cullen Cult made their usual dramatic entrance. For a family who wanted to keep a low profile they were quite theatrical. What surprised me most was when the small, pixie-like Alice waved me over. I slowly rose from my seat and began walking over to their table. Heads turned in my direction making me feel as though I was breaking some rule. I refused to feel cowed by them. I squared my shoulders and my gate shifted to be a more confident strut instead of a slow hesitant walk. The normally buzzing cafeteria chatter turned to a quiet murmur. I reached the Cullen table and stood so I was facing Alice and her boyfriend, who currently bore a striking resemblance to a wooden plank. I was behind Edward.
"Hey Myla! I was just wondering if you would like to come over today after school." Alice chirped. I definitely did not want to spend the afternoon in a house full of vampires. I may be able to beat up human men, but vampires might be pushing the limits a little too much. Who knows what they had planned. The doctor could be a mad scientist in disguise.
"Sorry, Bella and I were going to watch a movie tonight." I told her. So what, I lied. It wasn't the end of the world. I would even force Bella to watch a movie with me, then it would be true.
"Carlisle's not a mad scientist." Edward said testily. I put up my hands.
"Anything is possible as far as I'm concerned." I told him. I turned to walk away, then remembered something. "Oh, and stay out of my sister's room." I threw at him over my shoulder. Emmett let out a loud peel of laughter. Edward seemed torn between being livid, or being embarrassed. I made a quick escape to avoid being the center of a vampire's wrath. The rest of the day was quite uninteresting. At the sound of the final bell I had a new mission. Make it to Bella's crappy truck without being seen by a vampire or disturbed by any human being. I walked quickly through the hallways, dodging other students as necessary. I spotted Wren down one hallway, and quickly turned the other way. I really did not feel the need to interact with anyone. I happily climbed in Bella's truck, or at least as happy as one can be when climbing into a large metal death trap. After what felt like forever I finally saw Bella emerge from the mass of fleeing high schoolers. She was almost to her truck when Mike Newton came up behind her. He stopped her and talked to her. I was on the brink of going out there and dragging her way. I don't know why I was in such a bad mood, I guess sometimes it just happens. I saw Bells look suddenly embarrassed and flustered. Now I leaned forward curiously instead of angrily. She spoke something to him and I watched him look down sullenly. Bella herself looked rather guilty. She made some gesture toward where I was sitting, then all but sprinted this way. I had a pretty good idea of what happened. Bella had just gotten asked to the upcoming dance, and she turned him down. Not that I was disapproving or anything. The kid was quite the idiot and rather disgusting. Although he may be better for her than someone who wants to eat her like Cullen. Bella yanked open the truck door and climbed in. She started the deafening engine and pulled out of the parking lot, seemingly in a hurry to put as much distance between her and the school and Newton as possible. Her embarrassment snapped me out of my bad mood.
"So sis, what do you say to a movie?" I asked her.
