Somehow I wound up at La Push. It wasn't really a decision I was aware of making. I just needed a walk to clear my head and made it all the way to La push. It really wasn't too far, but normally I did not go quite so far. But, for some reason or another, going to La push today just felt right. All along the way I mulled over just how stupid I must have been to be out here walking. No one knows exactly where I am, I am completely alone, and the last time I was out here I almost got killed. Nonetheless here I am. I will admit I'm slightly nervous, I don't really want to die today. This was a really stupid idea, and I have no clue why I am doing it. I still don't know why I continue walking forward instead of turning back. I actually do know. I hate backing out of things, it makes me feel weak, and I most definitely am not weak. As I was walking along the trial, I suddenly heard a loud commotion. I froze, listening. After listening I was able to discern that it was not a fight, at least not a bad one. It sounded like some idiot teenage boys having fun. For some unfathomable reason I creep around to peer out from behind a tree. From what I could see there were three very large boys, who were messing around. The biggest one who was obviously in charge called order.

"Come on guys, we have a patrol to run." He said, trying to sober up from whatever laughing fit he was in. They seemed vaguely familiar, as though I had seen them before, but I knew I hadn't. The other two straightened up.

"Ready to phase?" One asked. It was that word that got me, phase. The legends. These were the wolves, and I most definitely did not want to watch them change. So much for a normal day. As I could see it, I had two options, run which would not get me far, and make me seem like much more of a creeper than I am. Or step out and talk to large boys who change into even larger dogs. The decision was made for me when one suddenly straightened and sniffed the air.

"Someones here." He whispered. I made the rash decision and stepped out from behind my tree. I was tense and ready. I Knew they were supposed to be the protectors, and had saved me before, but things change. Plus, that time I had not been eavesdropping from behind a tree. I mean even now it was not intentional, it just happened. The boys looked at me strangely when I stepped out. They made no moves, and neither did I.

"Um, just fyi next time you want to talk about changing into animals, maybe do it farther from the main walking path, and keep your voices down just a little." I helpfully informed them. This seemed to break their trance. Their gazes hardened, probably because I had just called them out on not being human. I knew antagonizing them was probably not the best choice I had ever made, but I would rather do that than seem small and weak. The one who appeared to be the leader narrowed his eyes at me.

"What are you talking about?" He demanded. I threw back my head and laughed.

"You know perfectly well what I am talking about." I tossed back at him.

"I don't think I do." We were having what may seem to an outsider, a very intense staring contest.

"Do I need to spell it out for you? You and your overly large friends, turn into even larger dogs whenever there are so called cold ones around. You are deemed the protectors of La Push and have been especially busy recently with a couple of rogue vamps." I told them, maybe gloating just a little. They gawked at me.

"How do you know all this?" The leader asked.

"Well, first of all I have a good memory. Second of all, I am the one who they recently saved her hide from a red headed vampire." Was my reply.
