The rest of the day passed with very little to set it apart, as did the rest of the week. I made sure to think of anything but my theories when I was around the Cullens. It proved to be harder than expected. When you try hard not to think of something, that all that seems to appear in your mind. I eventually began taking a rock or something to mess around with and focus on, it actually helped. Bella continued to obsess over Edward. He was currently ignoring her. I personally thought this was better. I mean, if he is a vampire, the last thing I need is for him to sink his fangs in my sister. Older sister or not, I always protected my sister. Edward continued to ignore Bella, and I continued to take my rock. It gave me a strange sense of calm. This lasted for two weeks. Today was Monday, and it was already going to be a bad day.

"Bella, it's not working!" I huffed. I had slept through my alarm, forced to take a cold shower, then I burnt my toast, now I had stained my outfit.

"What now, Myla?" Bella asked, exasperated.

"This stupid take deep breaths and count to ten thing!" I yelled. I had a strong urge to punch something, or someone.

"Just go change, I'll meet you in the car." She said, rolling her eyes. Letting out a frustrated scream I stomped up the stairs and picked out new clothes. I threw them on, then practically sprinted down the stairs when I saw the time. I dove into the car and Bella pulled out. She did not seem to be worried about the time. I, on the other hand, hated being late.

"Step on it." I ordered. Bella accelerated the slightest bit. Groaning, I slumped against my seat. By some miracle we were not late. I had to practically sprint to English, but I made it before the bell. Then I realized I forgot my rock. Shoot. Huffing I slumped and prepared to be bored for the next four hours until lunch. When lunch finally did roll around I tried my very best to think only about unimportant things or the conversations going on around me. At one point my mind started to wander and I started to scream 'WALL' in my head until I could focus again. When that happened I felt eyes on me, I knew it was the stupid mind reader. I refused to look at him for fear I would not be able to stop the thoughts in time. I somehow managed to make it through lunch with no more incidents. Then it was back to learning nothing for the remaining three hours until we could leave. I was still fuming by the time Bella's rust bucket pulled into the driveway. I didn't even know what I was mad at anymore, I was just mad. Bella seemed to realize this and made herself scarce. I tried to calm down in my room, but it was not helping. It seemed suffocating inside. The air was cloying. I eventually gave up and I tugged on a pair of tennis shoes. Grumbling, I walked out the door, slamming it behind me. I headed out into the woods. There were a few trails by Charlie's house, but I didn't really feel like walking them. So what do I do? I make my own, probably not the best idea, but I can't bring myself to care all that much. I tramped through the woods, trying to absorb the calmness it radiates. The woods have always made me feel better, the outdoors in general really. It just calms my nerves. It feels like I belong out here. I am not sure how long I walked before I heard it. A sound, one that chilled me to the bones. One that was getting closer. An inhuman growling, an animal like roaring followed by wailing. I slowed my steps, debating on what I should do. The birds had long since flown away, a dead-giveaway of the danger lurking in the woods. A sensible person would sprint for their lives toward safety. I never claimed to be sensible. I slowed my advances, trying to make it as soundless as possible. I made sure not to step on any dry twigs. I don't know what is up there, better to not take any chances. There was a small clearing up ahead. In it was a large splotch of brown. When I neared I could make out different forms. What I saw chilled me far worse than any sound ever would. There, lying on the soil was a decent size grizzly bear, and, leaning over with teeth embedded in it, was Emmett Cullen.
