Recognition flashed in their eyes, and for a second they just stared at me. Then the leader spoke again.

"How did you know?" The question was broad, but his intent was there. I shrugged.

"I grew up with the legends, and it was the right area. Not to mention the fact that vampires exist so why shouldn't you guys?" That was the best explanation I was going to give them. They seemed to accept this. The one on his left asked another question.

"So we saved you from that red-head the other day, why are you back out?"This was one question I had no answer to.

"Dunno, felt like it." That was my genius reply.

"Are you in the mood to die often?" He pressed in an almost angry way.

"Yeah, you could say that." I retorted. The leader guy put a hand on his chest in an almost restraining gesture.

"Well, the woman is still in the area, and judging by scents, she has friends. So, I would avoid wandering the woods for a while if I were you." The leader speaks to me, trying to keep up the friendly air. I nod my head sharply in response.

"Thanks." I say, then turn and walk back to the path. I pause mid stride, remembering something. "Oh, and thanks for saving my hide the other day." I add, then continue walking. I don't stop walking until I am back home. I was honestly surprised when I stepped out of the woods to see my house. I was running on autopilot the whole way back. I was too lost in thought to fully register where I was going. When I was pulled out of my stupor I realized just how hungry I was. It was around 3:30 PM. Bella was still with Cullen, and Charlie was fishing. I had the house to myself and I intended to make the best of it. I made myself a late lunch early dinner, and settled down with both music and movies. I decided on a movie first and watched that while eating my dinner. After I finished it I still had an hour before anyone would be back. In that time I retreated to my room and flopped on my bed, listening to loud music. I had absolutely no clue what I was doing anymore. I had already had too many encounters with mythical creatures, and I just found out they existed. My sister seems to be in love with a vampire, and her other friend could be a werewolf. I would assume Jacob is a shifter, seeming as his dad was the one who always told me the stories. I was almost killed by a redheaded vampire, and went to the place where I know large human wolves live for literally no reason at all. My head was spinning, how was I supposed to prepare for a world that I didn't know existed? That almost no humans knew existed? Why did no human know it existed? What were the laws in place about that? Who enforced them? It was only a matter of time before I am killed for knowing, along with Bella. The latter death scared me the most. Especially knowing there was very little I could do to prevent it. I hated that. Humans I can fight, how can I protect my sister from the creatures she doesn't want to be protected from? The creatures that will take her life, one way or another. I could do nothing about it, that was the hard truth. But, that doesn't mean I couldn't try. And try I will. No one ever got anything accomplished by sticking to what we know could be done. They went above and beyond it, so will I. But first, I have to learn some karate that is effective on vampires.
