Teardrop's feet swayed from the bench she sat on. There were no challenges to do today and she didn't feel like hanging out with anyone since all their motives were to get her to talk. She hated it. It annoyed her to no end and she just wanted to be left alone. But that was all until you came along.

You were a contestant that recently joined. A newbie. People had tried to make conversation with you when you first joined, especially Leafy, but they stopped trying once they saw they weren't getting a word out of you, leaving you to fend for yourself. And the reason you weren't talking? Well that's because you're mute. Once the others quickly found that out, they kept comparing you to someone named, 'Teardrop'. You heard that she was mute like you so hopefully the both of you could get along.

Since there's no challenge today, you went out searching for this 'Teardrop' person. They weren't too hard to find since they were sitting on a bench not too far away from you, minding their own business. You slowly made your way over to her, thinking of what you would do so you don't accidently make a fool out of yourself.

As you finally approached her, she looked at you with a confused stare, confused on why the new contestant was approaching her. You smiled at her, giving her a friendly wave, her doing the same. You couldn't let your nerves get the best of you now! There was no turning back!

'Hi,' you signed with your hands. 'Are you a mute just like me?'

Teardrop looked at you blankly for a few seconds before her face quickly morphed into shock then happiness. She started to do this arm fluttering thing, which confused you- but you took it as a good sign. She quickly gained her composure and signed back to you.

'Yeah! I'm also mute!' She couldn't believe that there was someone like her in this competition! Hopefully someone that she could relate to and understand. And possibly an alliance!

You sat in the spot next to her and decided to continue the conversation. It was going good so far and you were hopeful to make a friend out of this! It would also prevent you from becoming an outcast, so that's a plus.

'So, what are your interests?' you asked her.

She started to ramble on about her hobbies and what she likes to do- which you didn't mind listening to. She even told you that she makes comics! On a typewriter! You found that cool, not knowing before that it was possible to do that on a typewriter. The both of you talked the whole day about each other until sun down. You really liked her and you were also grateful that she gave you some info about the other contestants. The both of you quickly understood each other and bonded from there on out.

And that was the day the both of you became friends.

-----

A few weeks had passed and you and Teardrop were basically stuck to each other's hip. Soon enough, the other contestants came up with some weird name and start calling you both, 'The Weird Mutes'. None of you tried or said anything to them since it never bothered you or her. But as the days passed, you started to notice something strange about Teardrop. She started to get nervous around you and would start to avoid eye contact.

You confronted her about her recent change, but she always just blamed her nervousness on the challenges. You tried to comfort her and tell her that it'll be fine, but for some reason it seemed that it just made her even more nervous than before! You were stumped! You tried to remember if you did anything to make her act like this but nothing came up! Guess you'll just have to wait it out.

The challenge had ended a few minutes ago and you were sat at the spot you and Teardrop usually meet up. The benches. She's usually the first person there, but now it's just you. You're worried but you decide to stay, thinking that she would show up eventually.

And you were right!

She arrived, huffing slightly. 'Sorry, I had to finish something really quick,' she signed to you, holding a bunch of paper.

'Oh? What were you doing?' you ask.

And then she got nervous again.

She reluctantly gave the paper she was holding to you. You looked down and saw it was one of her comics! And on the cover it was you and Teardrop... holding hands? Your face flushed a little at this but it quickly went as soon as it appeared. The title of this comic was, 'Teardrop and (O/n)!'

You turn the page. On the first page, it's you and Teardrop talking on the bench. It's when the both of you first met! As the pages go on, it's just all the times you and Teardrop have bonded- a memoir, perchance..? As you get to the last page, what you see instantly makes your face heat up.

It's you and Teardrop, standing next to each other with hearts all around you (is this fanfiction in a fanfic???).  After staring at it for a while, you put the paper down and look at Teardrop. She's visibly anxious, a darker hue coating her face.

'Do you.. you like me?'

She nods her head and you smile, stepping closer.

'I like you too,' you signed before hugging her. Her mouth quickly turned into a smile before doing that hand fluttering thing again- but it didn't bother you. She hugged you back and brought you in for a kiss, which you quickly reciprocated.

You never expected it to go this route, but you weren't going to complain. You were happy.
