13. boyfriend?

farrah's pov

before i could even get out my phone to let kayla know i was here she was running out the door to me with a suitcase and a duffel bag.

she threw the bags into the back and got into the passenger seat. "are you okay?" i asked her. "i'm scared" her voice trembled.

"it's gonna be okay. we're gonna get it sorted out. but you can stay with me as long as you need. really, don't worry about it. even if it's forever" i assured her.

"thanks farr" she said with some relief. "you know, maybe getting away from mom won't be the worst" she decided.

"i wont lie, it's pretty nice" i told her.

"but really i promise, i got you" i wasn't gonna let anything happen to her, or leave her stuck. i'd be her legal guardian till she was eighteen if i have to.

"i'm gonna set up the living room for you for now. i'll figure out something a little better once we have some time. is that okay?" i asked her

"literally anything is fine. thank you"

i knew she wouldn't complain, but i wanted her to still have her own space.

i tried to distract her with regular sisterly conversation for the remainder of the drive.

i brought her bags upstairs for her. "okay, i'll set up the living room for you" i told her once we arrived at the apartment.

"okay, can i go shower?" she asked. "of course you don't have to ask" i told her.

my couch did pull out into a bed. i put some sheets and blankets on it for her. i cleared the random shit out of some of the shelves for her to put clothes and other things on.

i tried my best to stuff all of my stuff in my extra closet which was already overflowing.

my phone vibrated in my pocket, gus was trying to call me.

"hey, can i call you back?" i asked him right away.

"hey, what's wrong?" he picked up on my emotions right away.

"like a lot. like a huge bomb just got dropped on me" i sighed.

"you can talk to me, you know that" he said

"i know, it's just. it's my sister and she's here right now" my voice lowered.

"is everything okay?" he asked

"no, not at all" i sighed.

"can i do anything?" he asked.

"i don't know. our mom kicked her out so she's staying with me until further notice basically. i'm trying to set up the living room for her but it's just alot. i don't know what i'm gonna do really, she can stay as long as she needs but like what the fuck" i ranted.

"oh fuck that's really bad. i hope you'll get it sorted out as soon as you can. that's really not fair and also just super fucked up. let me know if either of you need anything at all" he offered

"thank you gus, i appreciate it. i'll text you later. okay?" i asked

"of course. i'll talk to you later boo" he said

i smiled, it was cute he called me that. i was honestly hoping to maybe start taking things more seriously with gus but now kayla was my priority for the time being.

the water stopped running in the bathroom, kayla emerging.

"hey, there's someone i really want you to meet. are you up to it?" i asked her

"who is it?" she asked.

"just someone really important to me. i get it if you aren't feeling it though, no pressure" i added.

"is it that guy?" she asked

"yeah, it is that guy" i admitted

"sure. i think it'll be a good distraction. i just wanna be as normal as i can" she agreed

"cool, he's really great" i told her.

"he'll be here soon" i told her.

about thirty minutes later gus knocked on the door.

"hey" he walked in, he gave me one arm around my waist for a hug, kissing the side of my head.

"hey, thanks for coming" i smiled.

i brought gus to my room to come chat with kayla and i.

we sat on the bed, she sat in the corner on my bean bag chair i never actually used.

"so, is he like your boyfriend? this is super vague" kayla asked

"well, like..." i stammered, not knowing how to answer.

"yes" gus answered

i turned to him in surprise, did i hear him right?

i wasn't upset, just a little taken back

i smiled, i wanted this.

i'm not sure why he decided to do it like this, but i didn't mind.

"that's so cute" kayla spoke

"it's really great to meet you, she talks about you a lot" gus spoke to kayla

"it's good to me you too. be good to her" kayla told him

"i'd have no other intentions" gus assured her

"i'm gonna go watch netflix. is that okay?" kayla asked

"i told you, you don't have to ask" i told her

kayla went out to the living room to do whatever she was doing.

"do you wanna stay the night?" i asked gus, "i do" he agreed.

"boyfriend?" i asked, "is that a problem?" he asked

"no" i smiled, "i was kind of waiting"

"i just want to make you happy" he said, i was a little nervous due to past experience but i really like gus. i thought he was different than other guys.
