Keefe tried to shake off his nerves, taking a deep breath before knocking on the door of Havenfield.

Edaline answered a few seconds later. "Oh! Keefe, Sophie is out with Biana right now."

"I-I know I actually came to see you and Grady if you're not busy."

She looked a little surprised but ushered him in. "Of course, let me go get him."

A few minutes later the three of them were seated in the living room, Grady watching Keefe with narrowed eyes.

"Uh so I wanted to talk to you guys, because obviously I-I love Sophie more than anything and I wouldn't trade her for the world. A-And I know you guys haven't always been the biggest fan of me which I totally understand, I get it, I wouldn't be either. But I-I really do love her and we've been together for a while and I honestly just want to spend the rest of my life with her. So I'd like your blessing for me to marry her." Keefe rambled, wincing when he was done. That didn't go as smoothly as he rehearsed.

The Reuwens were quiet for a second before Edaline squealed, jumping up from the couch and hugging Keefe tightly. "Yes oh my goodness of course Keefe. We adore you and we can't imagine Sophie being with anyone else."

He sighed in relief, hugging her back gently.

Edaline turned to Grady and stared him down for a few seconds before nudging him with her foot. "Anything you'd like to say, dear." She said sharply.

Grady looked genuinely pained but eventually spoke up. "You know I wasn't always the biggest fan of you kid. I thought you were a bad influence, you were a bad influence, but-"

"Grady!" Edaline snapped.

"Let me finish. I can see how much she loves you, and how much you've changed her for the better. You help her in ways that we can't and for that i'm grateful. It's a little hard for me to say this but you've grown on me and I'd love nothing more for you to marry my daughter."

Grady stood and Keefe did the same, shaking hands before pulling him into a hug.

"Thank you. Genuinely."

When they pulled apart, Grady kept Keefe's hand in his, looking him in the eye.

"If I find out that you hurt her, I will end you. You hear me?"

"Grady!" Edaline cut in again. "Stop threatening your future son in law!"

"I'm just making sure he knows which side I stand on is all."

"I understand Mr. Reuwen, I would never hurt her and if I did I'm not sure I could live with myself." Keefe replied honestly.

Grady nodded, quiet for a moment before saying, "No more Mr. Reuwen. Call me Grady."

Keefe's lips turned up in a smile at that. "Will do."

The front door opened and Sophie walked in.

"Keefe? What are you doing here?"

"Oh Keefe just came here looking for you and didn't know you were out." Grady lied smoothly.

"They said you'd be back soon so I just decided to wait." Keefe added.

"Oh. Okay I guess. You wanna come upstairs?"

"Yeah, for sure." Keefe said following her upstairs, not before turning back and finding Grady and Edaline watching them with knowing smiles.

He sighed in relief, walking into her room behind her.
