I know that I should care more about the people we're leaving, but it's simple now. We risk staying or we risk listening. We'd most likely never see each other again and one group would probably die. It was the same division as the Glade so why make a scene again? It is what is and will be what it will be. We all knew there was no point in wasting time by changing the other side's mind.
Well, most of us did.
"Last chance,"Thomas warned, looking at the five seconds on the timer.
"You go fall for the trick. We're staying,"Harry said firmly.
"Alrighty. Good luck y'all,"I nodded, keeping my sheet with just enough supplies to not weigh me down under my arm.
"Yeah. Good-"
"And it's go time,"I announced as the timer rang. Just after, this portal that seemed like it could help us cross universes popped into thin air, right in front of our group.
With Minho looking back, he seemed to be intentionally counting something before turning around with his head held high. Stepping through, he completely vanished into the darkness. Cool so far. Totally awesome. That's not a red flag at all.
"You ready?"Aris asked from next to me as Thomas went behind Minho.
"Not at all,"I answered honestly, glancing as Newt went next. Without looking back, which was probably smart, Winston followed suit.
Not bothering to think about consequences anymore, I stepped in only to immediately bump into someone. Just as I was about to apologize, Aris ended up doing the same. Not that I blame him. It was literally pitch black in whatever this is.
"Everyone just keep moving forward,"Minho commanded. Always knew we could count on Sherlock Holmes to say something we could have never figured out.
Keeping my ears open as my eyes adjusted just enough to see Winston in front of me, I heard the pitter patter of footsteps, ranging from slow and nervous, to just a little under too fast and worried, to normal ones. As they blended together, it was clear I would never know who was who. At the same time, it didn't make a difference. While details are important, footsteps aren't a main focus for anyone. If they are, then that'll probably be a problem later down the line. At the same time, we've already got so many of those. What's one more?
"Everyone make sure to stay together."
"Any other wise advice you want to offer? Maybe something like don't chew with our mouths open?"I grumbled.
"I doubt we'll be chewin' much for a while,"Fry remarked.
"Can both of you stop?"
"You told us to keep going,"I pointed out.
"That is not what I meant, and you know it. Just keep moving,"He ordered. Sighing, I did what mister Subject A7, The Leader, told us to.
"Don't push me,"Someone, maybe Jack, demanded.
"I'm not pushing you. You're just short."
"Henry, can you not be a shuckface for one bloody day?"
"Seeing as his name is Henry, I doubt it,"I mumbled.
"Y/N, stop being like that. Just keep movin'. I swear I'm about to start seeing shadow people."
"Don't worry. That's just the Flare,"Fry shrugged.
"Not funny. You have it too,"I reminded him.
"Yeah? Well, you have it more."
"Can we not talk about who has the worst of a deadly disease and just get out of here?"Aris spoke up.
