My ears were bleeding. The screaming was giving me a splitting headache, admittedly making me more agitable. To be fair, Newt seems on the same page there, with both of us glancing at each other in annoyance over the smallest things now.
We have to suck it up though. There's literally nothing we can do about it but keep moving.
Thomas is acting weird again. He’s acting like he knows something or at the very least has suspicions he’s not sharing about what's happening.
There's no actual time for that though. Like I said earlier, we have to keep moving. Surviving is more important than anything else. Food, water, being able to hear in the future, none of that matters. What matters is getting to the end and still breathing.
The yelling only seemed to be getting louder though, and I swear I’m going to bash my skull against a rock.
Unfortunately, that would do the opposite of the goal of waking up tomorrow.
“Any reason you're gazing off into the distance?”Minho spoke up. I turned my head slightly to see him slightly cocking his head at Thomas who was indeed staring off into nothing. Just the direction of the screams.
“I don't know. Something is just off,”He tried to explain.
“Yeah. It's probably the Flare attacking your brain,”I shrugged.
“Wow. How would anybody have lived without the reminder?”
“Fry, Y/N, can both of you just not make this any more depressing than it actually is?”Jack asked.
“I dunno. I think being in danger of dying is pretty depressing,”I pointed out.
“Okay, but-”
“Guys, stop,”Minho hushed.
Listening (some of us more reluctantly than others), we stopped and immediately realized why.
The world had gone silent. Eerily silent.
“That's not normal, is it?”Frankie mumbled.
“None of this has been normal. Let's just keep going,”I urged, pushing down the sinking gut feeling I had. Not forever. Just until I could actually do something about it.
“What? But-”
“There isn't anything we can actually do about it. Let's just beat that time limit, alright?”
“Yeah. Alright,”Thomas mumbled.
“Good. Now come on,”I said firmly, already on my way to jogging forward. I mean where else were we supposed to go? Backwards?
Aris’s P.O.V
Teresa hadn't had much else to tell me. Just that she was about to be able to warn Thomas and I should find a way to do the same.
Is that worth it though? This has to look as real as possible. You never know who's watching, even though somebody always is.
That's not just paranoia. That's the plain truth.
Y/N’s getting especially sick of this. I can tell the questions she has are driving her insane, but nobody's allowed to have answers. Even my information is limited, and I’m supposedly in on a lot of this.
Am I really though? WICKED’s honesty so far hasn't exactly been topnoch. They haven't really acted that trustworthy, even though they're supposed to be.
After everything that's happened this week though, how could I ever trust them again?
I sound like Y/N from years ago. The more I’m here, the longer I’m stuck in the Scorch, the more I seem to find myself thinking the way she always has.
Is WICKED bad?
