Rain should've known...nothing gets past Phayu. NOTHING.
But he learns it the hard way.
When he arrived in the court, he could already tell something was off. Not only did Phayu not move from his seat even after Aon announced, "He's here, boss." But the only words he uttered to Rain was, "Sit down."
And for a moment, Rain wondered if he meant sit down next to him or...
But to be safe, he took the chair where he normally sits. And that's where he's fidgeting anxiously at the moment, waiting for Phayu to say or do something.
"I-is there a problem, P'Phayu?" Rain asks, feeling weird sitting by himself in the middle of the room, across from Phayu who's been staring him down with that piercing gaze of his.
And since it's nighttime with only the yellowish lights dimly illuminating the old court, the vibe is kind of...sensual?
No, Rain what are you thinking? The boy shakes his head which seems to pique Phayu's interest because finally, he gets up.
"Do you know why you're here, Rain?" Phayu asks, his voice calm and yet, there's an intensity to it. It sounds restrained and borderline dangerous.
Rain shakes his head 'no'. He has an inkling this has something to do with his "group study" but he's holding onto the hope that Phayu doesn't know just yet. How could he possibly?
Meanwhile, Phayu narrows his eyes at the boy. That's how you wanna play, huh?
He tongues the inside of his cheek, a movement that Rain closely watches, before he proceeds to circle around Rain and stand behind his chair.
"I'm gonna ask you a question, Rain." Phayu states. "And I'm telling you right now that whatever your answer is, I will be mad. But one answer will make me angrier than the other...so answer wisely."
In the quiet room, they both practically hear the wet noise Rain's throat makes when he swallows thickly, a telltale that Phayu has made himself clear. He then goes to stand in front of the boy, his height putting Rain in the awkward position of being level with his belt (slightly lower than his belt, in fact).
But only until Phayu plants his hands on either side of Rain's chair and leans down so that they're face to face. "Where were you earlier today, Rain?"
And Rain's eyes widen just a fraction but Phayu doesn't miss it. Meanwhile, Rain's mind begins to race. Does he know? Or is it a trap? He said one answer will make him angrier; am I supposed to tell him where I actually was or will that make him angrier?
"You didn't hear me?" Phayu says just barely above a whisper, their faces so close, it's making Rain feel some kind of way. "Where. Were. You?" He repeats.
Rain doesn't know what the "correct answer" is and so, he fucks it and goes with his gut.
"I...was with P'Pai."
Phayu is clearly taken aback and Rain can't tell if that's a good or bad thing. His guess is the latter.
"P'Phayu, let me explain." Rain immediately adds. "I-I know you don't like P'Pai but we were only there to study and Sky was with us."
Phayu arcs a brow. "Study?"
At this, Rain chews at his lower lip then comes clean, "I'm failing in math. And I can't afford to so I asked P'Pai to tutor me. But I shouldn't have and...I'm sorry."
