Author's note:

I know I'm late again but it's only one day so you guys forgive me, right? 😅 Anyway, another roller coaster of a chapter ahead. I hope you guys are still okay.

Things have changed...and not for the better.

Phayu's not even doing it on purpose but whenever he tries to act normal around Rain, he's somehow reminded of the fact that their memories are stained.

Just like when he was getting changed that morning. He couldn't find his belt so he rummaged in his drawers for another one and he ends up finding Rain's letter instead.

He had kept it there, at the back with things like an old photo with his parents; they took it when his dad was sick and they thought it might be the last time. There's also an Ultraman badge from his youth.

It's all things that he treasured. But now, he's not so sure about Rain's letter.

Should he even be keeping this? It wasn't even for him. The confession, the sweet words that he reads with Rain's voice in his mind—none of it was for him. Before he knew it, he had crumpled it slightly before chucking it impulsively in the trash.

And that alone already kicked off his day on the wrong foot.

But to make it worse, when he met up with Rain and the others in the gym, the boy had a project model which the boys were raving about. To be fair, it was incredible and he was proud of Rain, especially since he knew how hard the boy worked on it.

But it was when one of the guys made a comment about how Phayu was the reason Rain wanted to be an architect that his mood became even more sour.

Is that even true? He doesn't know which ones are lies anymore and it's killing him inside.

But he's trying so hard not to erupt on the boy so he's keeping his distance. On the other hand, Rain feels as though their gap is only getting wider and he wants to close it even just a little each day; he doesn't want Phayu to think he doesn't care.

"Phi..." Rain utters quietly from behind Phayu. He has some packed lunch he wishes to share with the other. "Have you eaten? If not, we can share-"

"It's fine." Phayu mutters. "You can have that; you look like you're losing weight."

But at his comment, Rain gets his hopes up that Phayu is showing more concern again and he starts rambling excitedly, "It's okay, phi. This is enough for us both. Also, my ma made this; she remembered you like-"

"I said it's fine!" Phayu didn't shout per se, but he did say it louder and more stern than strictly necessary and it catches the attention of the boys who all stop what they're doing and turn their heads towards the couple momentarily.

It's understandable that they're surprised; they don't know what's going on after all and Phayu has never raised his voice at Rain before—at least, not seriously.

Rain can feel their eyes and, to be honest, it's quite embarrassing. But he doesn't really care too much about that. He's just disappointed that he failed to reach out to Phayu.

He doesn't know what he's supposed to do anymore so that his sincere feelings would finds its way to Phayu's heart.

Phayu is equally embarrassed but of his own actions. But at the same time, he doesn't know how to let it go. So he doesn't apologize even though he wants to—even though he should.

And at Saifah's signal, the boys all get on with their business, pretending nothing happened.
