The Next Morning
"I just got a call from Oscar," I said, when they stepped into the office.
"What did he say?" Aiden asked with a yawning Justin behind him.
"He's amongst the officers investigating Anna's case and questioned some of her colleagues at the news station. They said that Anna usually works over time most nights. Oscar believes Anna might have something in her office that could help us," I said, playing with one of Xander's emergency daggers.
"K cool. We'll check it out tonight," Justin suggested.
"We can't. Since Anna's body was found, the police came up with the assumption that whoever killed Anna might have a thing against journalists. So they believe her colleagues could get targeted next. Therefore, security is tight and it'll be risky if all three of us goes to investigate,"
"So lets make a plan,"Aiden suggested. I hummed in agreement.
"Of course, but first, we need to lay out everything we've just found out," I waited for their replies. Justin started.
"Okay. We know that Anna had some stuff on Dale and Charles that led to the evidence she claimed she had on us," Aiden continued after him.
"And we know that Charles had it out for Dale for some reason," I nodded.
"But?" I pressed. They shrugged.
"What led to it? How did it start? What was Anna doing messing with one of the most powerful men in Italy and Manhattan? What is really the relationship between Dale Prestin and Charles Clawn?" I said. They pondered.
"Well," Aiden started.
"From what I was able to gather, Dale Prestin and Charles Clawn are actually half brothers. Born from the same father, but different mothers. It's just that Charles wanted to keep his mother's last name. The question is, are we the only ones aware of this?" He asked.
"I don't know. Xander never talks about his family or even his dad for that matter, unless it concerns the Mafia," I said.
"Well, we know who started it. Anna Cain, and the only way we'll get to the bottom of this is to keep investigating," Justin said in determination.
"You're right. So here's the plan. I'll go to the news station and search Anna's office. I remember in the voice recording, Charles mentioned something about her mother. So Aiden, get me a background check on Anna's mother and her relationship with Charles. Justin, you keep an eye on Anna's husband. Whoever informed him that we were at his house, might tip him another piece of information,"
"On it," Aiden said leaving the room.
"I better get paid extra for having to babysit an officer," Justin complained.
"It's not babysitting. It's spying and you have to keep me updated," he rolled his eyes.
"Whatever," He left the room. I sighed and leaned my back on the chair.
"Here's boring without you," I stared at the picture frame on table. On it was a photo of I and Xander under the moonlight, smiling at the camera. I smiled, gazing at the picture.
Flashback To One Year Ago
"Easy there," Xander said holding my hand as we climbed down the rocky hill.
"Xander, what are we doing here?" I asked when we got to a huge lake.
"On our way to the mission, I saw the full moon, thinking it would more relaxing to gaze at it over the hills, and I was right," He said, smiling at me charmingly.
"But did we have to climb past all those hills to get here? Now we gotta climb them again just so we can go back," I sighed. Xander chuckled.
"Yes, but I was hoping we could go for a little swim," He said placing his hands on my waist.
"What?" I looked at him in disbelief.
"You heard me," He smiled leaning over to kiss me. I placed my hand on his chest keeping some distance between us.
"But I'm not wearing any swimsuit," I crossed my arms. Xander smirked.
"Who said we needed swimsuits?" He took off his shirt, then proceeded to take off his pants.
"Wait," I stopped him.
"What are you doing?" I asked him.
"What does it look like I'm doing?"
"I can't do that," I stuttered. Xander sighed. He pulled me closer by my hips and placed his lips on mine. I was so immersed in the kiss, I didn't notice he had taken off my black dress, until I felt the cold air touch my skin. I gasped and pushed him away.
"Xander," I hugged my almost naked body. He smiled mischievously and lifted me up.
"W-wait, what are you-?" He threw me into the lake.
"Xander!" I screeched. He laughed hysterically.
"It's not funny," I whined. He stopped laughing and entered the lake.
"I'm sorry sweetheart," I turned away from him.
"I really am sorry tigre," He hugged me from behind. I ignored him, crossing my arms and looking at the distance.
"Mia amore, please don't be angry with me," He buried his head in my neck. Suddenly he kissed it. I gasped, my eyes wide.
"Xander stop that," He continued to place warm kisses on my neck and shoulder, then began to bite and suck my neck.
"Xander stop," I turned around, giving him a glare. He grinned.
"Okay," He lifted me up, giving me no choice but to wrap my legs around him.
"Bite my shoulder, if it begins to hurt too much," I looked at him questionably.
"What?" I immediately felt a sharp pain in my lower half.
"Ah!" I felt as if I was being ripped into two.
"Xander," I gasped feeling him deeply, as he moved. I bit his shoulder to quiet myself from making any sounds.
"It'll be over soon, kay?" I nodded, still buried in his shoulder. He lifted my head up by my chin and French kissed me. After a while, we both reached our point and Xander stopped moving.
"Ouch," I winced, feeling the pain more when he put me down.
"We should get back before everyone gets worried," He said. I laughed.
"No kidding, with their two leaders out and not back yet. Heck they'll start a search party," I joked. We laughed.
"Come on," He said. We put on our clothes and proceeded to leave.
"Wait," I stopped him, bringing out my phone.
"Let's take a picture," I suggested.
"Say moonlight," I positioned the camera in front of us. Xander stood, looking at me weirdly.
"I'm not saying that," I scoffed.
"Then I'm breaking up with you," He stared at me.
"Fine. Moonlight," We both smiled at the camera and took the picture.
"Now we can go. Tag, you're it," I ran towards the hills giggling. Xander smiled and chased after me.
End Of Flashback
I sighed. Dropping the picture frame on the desk, I dialled Xander.
"Sorry, the number you are calling is unavailable. Please try again later. Thank you."
"Oh Xander, please be okay," I looked at the ceiling
Please be okay.
