Chapter Forty One

Eva's POV

I landed on the floor with a thud.

"Ow." Not the softest landing. I rubbed my butt and stood up. I peered into the room. The lights were off so I couldn't see a thing.

Suddenly, a flash of light pointed at me through the glass doors and I immediately hid at the corner of the wall.

"Hey!" I flinched.

"What are you doing there?" The light moved around and I realized they hadn't seen me. Another voice spoke.

"The hostage escaped. Boss said we have to find her before the don gets back," My eyes widened.

What? Charles is on his way? The guards left and the coast was clear. I opened the door and walked inside what seemed to be a library.

Who builds a balcony for a library? I reached for a light switch and turned on the lights.

Why am I here, Cyrina? I looked around It was obvious there wasn't any clue about Xander's mother here, but maybe I could find something that related to Charles.

I came across some old history books. The Prestin Empire. Read that five times already. Start of The Mafia Dynasty. Boring. Italian Criminal Societies .

It's surprising there are such books as these. I picked up another. History of the Emerged Clawns.

? I opened it.

"Okay, I'm seriously starting to wonder where the heck I am," I read the book for a few minutes. It didn't give the clue I was looking for, but it did help me realize something.

"Which means, wherever I am is in Spain," I said excitedly.

But something was wrong. A loud sound escaped from my lips as I felt my skin rip. I touched my cheek, noting it had been grazed by a bullet. I looked up at the buff man in front of me with his gun pointed at my face.

"Gotcha," My eyes widened. He laughed and pulled the trigger. I fell to the floor.
