In The Mansion

Aiden's POV

"Done," I stretched my arms, letting out a yawn as I finished the report Eva asked me to do. All of a sudden, my stomach grumbled.

"Damn, I could really go for a sandwich right now," I said with a pout and got up. I look at the report on my desk and then at my watch.

"Hmmm, Eva could get back at any minute. Might as well take it with me," I grabbed the report and stepped out of my lab. I walked into the kitchen, taken aback to run into  McKenzie there. She turned to me.

"Oh, hi Aiden," I frowned and stared at her.

Could this girl really be Xander's sister? And to think she almost killed him, is she even aware who he is to her?  I came back to my senses when I realized she was in front of me.

"Aiden, are you alright? You look tired. Not to mention you have bags under your eyes," Her face itched with worry and I blushed, noticing how close she was. I stepped back.

"Yes, I'm fine. I just came to look for something to eat," She blinked.

"Your hungry? I just made chicken potato stew. We can have it with the leftover rice from last night," She turned of the stove and proceeded to gather some plates.

"We?" I asked. She nodded.

"Yeah, It was meant to be for me and Rita, I might have made more than I was supposed to. You can join us," She smiled sheepishly.

Rita? Did she just say Rita? Are they on good terms now? Speaking of Rita, she walked into the kitchen.

"You done? I'm starving," Rita said looking pissed.

"Yup, all done. Here's yours," Mckenzie handed her her plate.

"Awesome, thanks Kenz," My jaw dropped.

Kenz?! Did she just call her Kenz?!

"Um, excuse me," They turned to me.

"I thought you both weren't on good terms?" I said, sitting beside Rita. Mckenzie handed me my plate of food.

"Thank you," She smiled.

"Well, we weren't until Mckenzie told me the truth," I furrowed.

"The truth? What truth?" I turned to Mckenzie.

"Well.....," I gaped at her like a chimpanzee.

"So your saying that all that was planned by Charles?" She nodded.

"Then why didn't you tell Ralph?" I asked, infuriated that she let Ralph and herself suffer like that.

"Calm down, Tech boy. That's the exact expression I had when she told me,"

"I was afraid of what my father would do to Ralph to continue his schemes. I decided that it would be best if he knew there no longer anything between me and Ralph," I stared at her in pity.

"But something doesn't add up.The person that drugged your drink, did they drug Edward's as well? Why? Isn't Edward Charles right hand?" McKenzie shrugged.

"My exact thoughts as well," Rita said.

"Xander said he'd take care of it," I looked at her.

"That means, you're aware he's your step-brother?" She nodded.

"I knew before he did and I sought out to take his life, but when he knew I was his sister, all he wanted to do was protect me. Because we come from a woman who endured so much in the hands of our fathers,"
