Chapter Thirty-Two

Justin’s POV

“The four of you, seat,” Xander said when we walked inside a small office.

“But Boss, Eva is still out there. If Charles’s men are here, they might capture her. Worse, kill her,” Aiden said panicking. Xander kept quiet with a cold gaze, waiting for us to do as he had instructed. We sat down.

“I'm aware of that,”

“They won't kill her. Just kidnap her to get to me. At least I'm hoping they do,”

“What?” I looked at him in disbelief.

“I owe you all an explanation and an apology as well. I was aware of Charles plan from the very start and allowed Jake to continue his acts even though I knew he was working for Charles,”

“What do you mean you were aware? As in you knew all this was happening?" Aiden asked in disbelief.

“Yes. I knew who Anna Cain was before your investigation even started and I knew Jake had planned to kill Ralph. Everything that has been happening since Ralph was announced dead, I've known of it all,” Rita stood up. Her face in anger.

“What? Which means Ralph dying was a lie?” I turned to Xander.

“No. I knew Jake was planning to kill Ralph, but I didn't know how. Ralph's disappearance was no lie at all. It was until a month ago that I received a report from one of my relatives, saying that someone had broken into our mansion and tried stealing my family deed from the family vault."

“I asked Elvis to investigate and he discovered a member of the Vipers in my family vault. We captured him and the Viper turned out to be Ralph,” I noticed the snake tattoo on the side of Ralph’s neck.

“How'd you become a Viper?” Hw turned to me and smiled.

“Turns out Gustavo still held a deep grudge against us after we exposed his identity to the cops and sent his son to jail. He teamed up with Charles who's plan was to get rid of me in San Diego,”

“So it wasn't Jake that killed you?” Asked Aiden.

“Nope. Jake couldn't do it cuz he was accompanied by Rita. So Charles sent the Vipers. I was ambushed by them on my way back and they almost killed me, until I found out Charles plan and convinced them that I could them deed before he could,”

“And how do you know where the deed is?” He grinned.

“When your best friends with this pyscho, they are a lot of things you're gonna know by force. Anyhoo, Gustavo kept it a secret from Charles that I was still alive and initiated me into his clan. When I was able to get their trust in letting me lead them into robbing the Prestins, I intentionally messed up with their security system so Xander would notice,” Xander decided to cut in.

“When we understood Gustavo's intentions, we replaced the deed with a fake and made robbing me a little easier. After Ralph and the rest of Gustavo’s men got the fake deed, we attacked them leaving a few to escape and faking Ralph's death. Again,”

“Yup, except this time, I almost did die,” Ralph chipped in and glared at Xander.

“Which reminds me,” He glanced at Xander, then turned to Mckenzie.

“On behalf of Rita, Edward, Eva and myself, I owe Mckenzie an apology,” She held his gaze.

“I'm sorry for the way we treated you back then. I'm sorry for breaking up with you and treating you like an outsider when you never did anything wrong. I'm sorry for all the hate you received and the pain you endured all because of that incident,” Mckenzie furrowed at him, perplexed.

“I don't understand what you mean, Ralph,”

“You and Edward never did anything. It was to protect you. The two of you were drugged, but that's it. Xander made sure of that,” I stiffened. Mckenzie froze, letting what Ralph had just said sink in. She turned to Xander, her eyes hurt.

“You were the one who drugged us? Why? Why would you do that to me? I thought you said you cared for me?” Her voice quivered as she stared at Xander with a look of betrayal. Rita glared into space, balling her fist in anger. Xander stayed silent keeping an all too familiar calm composure.

“Answer her dammit!” I burst out in anger. Aiden stood up to calm me down.

“Take it easy, Justin.”

“Take it easy?! How can you still be calm after hearing this? Did he even think about her? How could you do that to your own sister?” I yelled at him.

“I'm with Justin on this. Do you have any idea how Mckenzie’s betrayal messed us up. Yet we find out this whole time, that she was innocent. We find out Ralph’s been alive this whole time and you kept it from us. You didn't even let us know what you were planning. Is Eva even aware of any of this? Did you even consider her in your pyscho plans?” She angrily questioned him. Xander turned to her.

“Do you want to hit me? Your allowed to if you feel I deserve it,” She gawked at him.

“Is that all you have to say?” He ignored her and walked towards Mckenzie. I stood in front of her. Ralph frowned at that.

“Move, Justin,” I glared at him.

“So you can hurt her even more? That's all you do, Xander. Hurt people. You freaking keep secrets and make crazy plans without even caring who gets hurt. Last time I checked, I'm your family too. A heads up would've been nice, but did you care? No, you didn't. So the why the heck should I move out of the way?” He frowned.

“I didn't mean to hurt you. I did it to protect her,” He looked at McKenzie.

“Charles wasn't going to going to hurt Ralph to get to me. He was going to use you. You think he didn't know we were related? He did. He knows that you are the only family I have from our mother. He knows how much you mean to me,”

“I thought that if I got him to know I didn't care about you anymore, you wouldn't be an advantage to his plans. That way, even if he killed you, his thought would be that I wouldn't care,” He said to her and turned to me.

“I knew Jake was a spy, so I kept my operations hidden and you all in the dark. Not because I don't trust you but because I wanted to protect you. You're not just apart of my Mafia. Your my family. Your death equals me to having nothing,” I stood shocked as Xander just exposed his vulnerability to us.

“I made a mistake. I've made countless mistakes. But I'll never regret doing them because I did it to protect my family. My home,” Mckenzie ran to his side and hugged him.

“Especially Eva,” He whispered hugging her tightly.

“I warned her to stop her investigation. But alas, she's as stubborn as ever. She wouldn't  listen. She's aware of all my plans and Charles’s. Except I wasn't expecting the military to infiltrate our home. So I had to switch to plan B. Let Charles believe you all are dead, and Eva the only survivor and his hostage. That way, he'll think I'm powerless."

“Then what about, Eva? What if she can't handle him or Jake?” Xander chuckled.

“She said and I quote, “I'll be the judge of that”,”
