Xander's POV

"Xander?" I turned to Eva. She lay on the bed staring at me with so much sadness in her eyes.

"Yes, dear?"

"Why did you lie to me?" I looked at her in surprise.

"I understand that you had to lie to the others, but, what about me?" She cried.

"Why did Ralph know, but I didn't? I thought you'd promise we'd tell each other everything?" She sat up.

"Why didn't you tell me earlier? About Ralph? About Edward? About this whole plan? Why?Don't you love me?" My heart broke at that. I knelt beside her.

"Of course I love you, mi amor. Of course, I do. I just wanted to protect you-,"

"Protect me? Or did you not tell me because you still haven't gotten used to me being your lover?" I froze.

"No, Eva, I..."

"Am I just someone to relieve you when we have sex? Am I just your right hand? Is that all I am to you, Xander? A bitch who works for you and gives you pleasure when you want it? Do you even trust me?"

"Eva, of course, I do. I love you so much, how can you think that way?" She laughed

"Maybe because it's true," I sat on the bed.

"No, it's not. Are you still angry? Do you want to hit me? Go ahead. Do you want to stab me? Bruise me? You can. Just don't think like that. I love you. I love you so much, Eva, and I would never intentionally want to hurt you," She stared at me.

"Is he worth it?"

"Eva-,"

"I lost a friend today, Xander. Rita lost her lover. Ralph lost his family. You lost an ally. Is Charles worth the sacrifices we have to make? Is he worth the things we have to do?" I hated to answer that.

"Yes, he is. If we don't do whatever we can to stop Charles, then we'll lose more than sacrifices, we'll lose everything, everyone. I could lose you,"

"Then did you ever consider that I could lose you as well?" She sobbed out.

"Did you ever consider the sacrifices I have to make? I would risk my life to save yours, Xander. So I ask you is Charles worth that?"

"If you're gonna make a plan, don't keep it from me. What if it was me instead of Edward who died today? Would there even be a need to carry it out?" Tears pricked my eyes.

"You said you're doing this to protect me, but if I had shared the same fate as Edward, would there still be meaning to your plan?" I cupped her cheeks.

"I'm sorry my love. I'm so f-ing sorry," She searched my eyes before they landed on my lips.

"Do you love me, Xander?"

"Yes, dear. Yes, I love you," She smiled.

"Then show me," She leaned in and kissed me. I kissed her back hungrily. Would I ever get tired of those lips?

No, I don't think I would. Her words cut through me like a knife. The reality I could've lost her hadn't reached my mind. As ridiculous as it was, I never thought there would have been a chance that such a thing could happen.

"Xander," She moaned as I thrusted deep into her.

"Faster," That pain of losing her, and the pain of losing a friend hit me so deep that I tried to concentrate on the sounds Eva made as I moved in and out of her.

After moments of intense pleasure, Eva cried out and I released into her. But our lovemaking didn't stop there. We kept going until midnight. When we were done, Eva lay asleep in my arms.

"Ralph, inform the gang to prepare. We leave for Italy first thing tomorrow evening."

"And Ralph," I stared at my sleeping beauty.

"No more crazy plans. We get rid of Charles once and for all," I hung up.

You said you're doing this to protect me, but if I had shared the same fate as Edward, would there still be meaning to your plan?

No there wouldn't. If anything ever happened to Eva. I'd never forgive myself.

Did you ever consider the sacrifices I have to make? I would risk my life to save yours, Xander.

I won't ever let you do that, mi amor.
