I hoped that something like this would never happen to me, because it's probably one of the worst things that can happen to an author, but unfortunately - my book "The Hunted" was copied.
I found out about it literally two days ago, when one of my readers accidentally came across my book on another profile on wattpad. Assuming that this user is probably someone young and perhaps not even aware that plagiarism is a crime punishable by a fine, restriction of liberty or imprisonment, I decided to first politely request that my book be removed. Unfortunately, as a result, my post was deleted and my account blocked by this user.
So I was left with no choice but to take more decisive steps. I sacrificed more than two years to make "The Hunted" happen, and I have no intention of tolerating the theft of my book and my hard work. Even more so when someone is brazen enough to behave this way when the author asks for the removal of the stolen work.
This user's copyright infringement has already been reported by me to the wattpad administration, so I hope that the stolen work will soon be removed and the user's account suspended. However, the matter is serious enough that it is not even about one book. As it turned out, at least two other works on this profile were also copied from ao3 without the knowledge of their authors (I have already sent messages to the real authors of these works). So I assume that probably also the other books on this profile were stolen from wattpad, ao3 or another platform.
Therefore, I would be extremely grateful if you also report this profile to wattpad.
