Chapter 38

Neil was shocked and speechless to listen these words from Day. 

"Bam !" Day fell backward  as he was punched on his face and coffee and food was splashed on floor. Nurse came in and shouted at them at such behaviour and warned them that she will call guards.  Neil apologised and held Nick from hitting Day further .

Day did not even react to Nick. His lips were cracked and slight blood came out.

"How can you even think of leaving my friend?" Nick shouted.  "You are a coward!"  Neil had to really held Nick tight "Nick he is not in right frame. Let's talk about it later. Not here. Not inside hospital."

Nick looked at Day fiercely who was still on floor  "Leave you don't deserve to be with my friend."

Day did not say a word. Neil made Nick sit on bench and then stretched his hand towards Day to make him stand up. Day was just looking down . Neil had to pull him and make him stand. Then he made him sit  little far from Nick and tried to provoke Day by saying "So you want to handle Ford or that too you want to leave for Itt to face." Day  was still silent and tears fell from his eyes when  his phone rang. Itt's father was calling. Neil also saw the name on phone "Pick it up". Day was just looking at phone.

Nick saw Day's parents entering hospital in panic . They were going towards reception but Nick went and brought them infront of ICU. Itt's mother asked Nick "How is Itt?"

Nick  was not sure how to tell " Brick .. Brick is ..." He looked towards Day.

Day stood up came towards his  parents and kneeled down " Ma .. Pa ..he is critical.  I am sorry .. I am really sorry."

Itt's parents have never see Day so weak " Son .. it' s not your fault. " Itt's mother rubbed Day's head. Itt's father also patted his should " Get up tiger . Itt will be fine. He just like to trouble us more." They both consider Day as son and love him equally as Itt.  Day got up and  hugged Itt's father and just broke down and started crying " Pa .. I couldn't save him .. It's all my fault."

Neil and Nick were shocked to see Day like that.

Itt's father rubbed his back "You are my strong son. How can you behave like Brick" He said to lighten atmosphere but he was very worried about Itt.

Itt's father looked at Neil " Take care of your friend. I will go and talk to the doctor." Neil immediately held Day  . Itt's mother came in and caressed Day's arm " Brick will be fine." and then both of them went to talk to Doctor.

Day was sobbing clinging to Neil and kept saying "It's my fault.." Neil kept rubbing his back to calm him. Nick also realised Day is devastated now.  He told Neil he will go and get water for him.

After a while Neil made him sit on bench. Itt's father came in and realize Day is not position to talk. He asked Neil who shot him. Neil was hesitant but seeing Itt's father is very pragmatic and strong person told about Ford. Though he did not tell any further details just that they had some issue when they met him on a trip and since then Ford is troubling Itt. Also he told that they have filed police case too. 

Itt's father listened and then took out his phone  and called " I need  5-6  guards at hospital now". Then he looked at Day who was sitting and staring at ICU door with tears in his eyes and  told Neil  " Take him home for some rest. We are here."

Neil nodded as he also felt Day need to rest a little  to think straight. He saw Nick coming with water. Neil took water from Nick's hand and told him "You stay here with Itt's parents and I will take Day home." Neil gave water to Day and made him drink forcefully. Itt's father went near Day and told "Son we are here. You should go and take some rest." Day was not reacting at all.

Neil was also struggling on how to deal. Nick came in and dragged Day outside hospital forcefully . He then shouted "What are you doing Day. Itt's parents love you so much and you are making them worry about you as well when their son is in this situation. "

Suddenly Neil said in dazed voice "Is that Ford!"

Both Day and Nick looked towards Neil who was looking towards hospital gate . Day and Nick turned and saw Ford entering hospital. 

All three ran inside hospital. They saw Itt's parents sitting in front of ICU.  They looked across but were not able to find Ford. Day ran and looked inside ICU through glass door and saw Itt struggling to breathe. He shouted to call doctors. Doctor rushed in with two nurses and  injected Itt with some medicine. Itt was still struggling. Nurse increased oxygen level  and adjusted mask.  Itt was breathing normally now.  Doctor checked his wounds and test results and instructed nurse to increase medication.

Doctor came out and Itt's parents , Day , Neil and Nick were standing worriedly. Doctor told Itt's breathing is stable now . However he need to be in ICU as the scans show some complications and he is not recovering as expected. Day asked if he can go inside ICU. Doctor said No as his wound is infected . Doctor asked to wait till next morning and left. 

Day then looked at Itt's parents " Pa, Ma .. Sorry I was too emotional before . I will take care of Itt . You both should leave and rest . You just travelled from outstation."  Neil and Nick went away to let  Day talk to his parents.

Itt's mother was hesitant " But.." . Day said "Ma .. I will keep you updated on call."

Itt's father agreed and patted on Day's shoulder " Son call me if you need anything and I am sending few guards for safety."

Day was about to say "No.. "  Itt's father interrupted "Don't be stubborn . It is for safety for both of you. And go and get your bruises cleaned first" as he noticed few bruises on Day's face and arm. Day could not say no and nodded. 

Itt's parents were about to leave .

"Pa .. did any one entered Itt's room while I went out." Day asked.

Itt's father turned back  and said "Yes a medical staff entered  with tray but left in a minute." Day was silent.

"Is anything wrong" Itt's  father asked suspecting something  as he understands Day very well.

"Pa can you arrange ambulance and medical setup at home " Day asked 

Itt's father nodded and smiled " My son is back. Now I am little relieved. I will call you once the arrangement is done."

Itt's parents left. Day did not find Neil and Nick so he just stood outside ICU. Neil and Nick both came panting "Not sure where did he disappear" Nick said with a sigh. They both were searching for Ford. Day looked at them "If I am not wrong , we can't trust medical staff here"

Neil and Nick looked at each other shocked. "So what do you plan to do?" Neil asked.

"Let's talk outside. Nick do not leave Itt for a second as well. Stay here."  Day said.

"Nick held Day's arm " So your thoughts of leaving Itt are gone?"

Day smiled touching his bruised lips "Thanks  for punching me."
