Amelia still 14yo
The pain inside her was overwhelming, and she needed a way to release it. She remembered the small razor blade she had hidden in her desk drawer. With trembling hands, she retrieved it and pressed it against her skin, making small cuts and feeling a twisted sense of relief with each one.
Meanwhile, Billie stood outside Amelia's door, her heart breaking as she listened to her daughter's anguished cries. She wanted to give her space but couldn't ignore the gut feeling that something was very wrong. Taking a deep breath, she knocked gently on the door.
"Amelia, please open the door. Let's talk," she said, trying to keep her voice steady.
There was no response, just the sound of muffled sobs. Billie's concern grew, and she tried the door handle, finding it locked. "Amelia, please. I'm really worried about you. Open the door."
Still nothing. Billie's anxiety skyrocketed. She took a step back and then tried the door with a bit more force, pushing it open. The sight that greeted her made her heart stop.
Amelia was sitting on her bed, her arm bleeding from several small cuts. The razor blade lay on the bed beside her.
Billie's eyes filled with tears as she rushed over and gently took Amelia's arm, inspecting the wounds."Oh, Amelia," Billie whispered, her voice choked with emotion. "Why did you do this? Please, tell me."
Amelia looked up at her mother, her face pale and streaked with tears. "I'm sorry, Mom. I just... I didn't know what else to do. I feel so useless and scared all the time. I feel like a failure."
Billie's heart ached as she pulled Amelia into a tight hug, careful not to hurt her arm. "You are not a failure, Amelia.
You're going through a really tough time, but hurting yourself isn't the answer. We'll get through this together, okay? I love you so much, and we'll find a way to help you feel better."Amelia sobbed into Billie's shoulder, feeling a mix of shame and relief. "I'm so sorry, Mom. I don't want to be like this."
Billie kissed the top of her head, her own tears falling freely. "I know, sweetheart. We'll get you the help you need. You don't have to go through this alone. I'm here for you, always."
They sat there together for a long time, Billie holding her daughter tightly, both of them crying. It was a painful moment, but also a crucial turning point. Billie knew they needed to seek professional help to address Amelia's emotional struggles and find healthier ways for her to cope.
"Amelia," Billie said softly after a while, "we're going to see a therapist. Someone who can help you understand these feelings and find better ways to deal with them. I promise, we'll get through this together."
Amelia nodded, feeling a glimmer of hope through her tears. "Okay, Mom. I trust you."
Billie held her close, vowing to do whatever it took to help her daughter heal. They would face this challenge together, one step at a time, with love and understanding guiding them through the darkness.
After the intense moment, Billie took Amelia to the bathroom to clean and bandage her cuts. She handled her daughter with utmost care, making sure the wounds were properly disinfected.
Amelia winced a bit but didn't pull away, feeling the comfort of her mother's gentle touch.Once Amelia was cleaned up, they went back to the living room. Billie sat down on the couch and pulled Amelia into her lap, holding her close.
"Mom, I know I messed up," Amelia whispered, her voice shaky. "But I need to feel close to you. Can we have quiet time?"
Billie sighed, conflicted. She knew Amelia needed the comfort, but she also needed to set boundaries. "Sweetheart, I understand you need comfort, but you also need to learn to cope without always relying on nursing."
