Billie Eilish woke up to the soft rays of the morning sun filtering through her bedroom window. The house was still, the only sound being the occasional chirp of a bird outside. She stretched, yawned, and glanced at the clock on her bedside table. It was time to wake up her precious daughter, Amelia.
Billie rose from bed and tiptoed down the hallway to Amelia's room. The walls were painted a soft pastel pink, adorned with delicate butterfly decals. A nightlight in the shape of a star cast a gentle glow over the room. Amelia slept peacefully in her crib, her thumb tucked in her mouth, her beloved stuffed bunny clutched in her arms, and her pacifier dangling from a ribbon attached to her pull-up.
Billie leaned over the crib and watched her daughter for a moment, her heart swelling with love. She reached down and gently stroked Amelia's cheek. "Good morning, my little angel," she whispered.
Amelia stirred, her eyes fluttering open. She blinked up at Billie, a sleepy smile spreading across her face. "Mama," she mumbled around her pacifier.
"Good morning, sweetie," Billie said softly. "Did you have a good sleep?"
Amelia babbled something incomprehensible, her words a jumble of sounds only Billie could decipher. "I know, you love your bunny," Billie said, interpreting Amelia's murmurings. "Ready to get up and start the day?"
Amelia nodded, still clutching her bunny. Billie carefully lifted her out of the crib and held her close, feeling the warmth of her small body. Amelia snuggled into Billie's shoulder, her tiny hands playing with Billie's hair.
Billie carried Amelia to the changing table and laid her down gently. "Let's get you out of that pull-up and into some fresh clothes," she said. Amelia's pacifier bobbed up and down as she sucked on it contentedly.
As Billie began changing her, Amelia babbled again. "Baba...mimi...nana," she said, her eyes wide and earnest.
Billie smiled, nodding as she worked. "Yes, we'll have some milk soon, I promise. And then we can go see Nana later. How does that sound?"
Amelia's face lit up, and she clapped her hands. "Nana!"
"That's right," Billie said, finishing up the diaper change. She picked out a cute outfit for Amelia: a little yellow dress with white polka dots, matching socks, and tiny white shoes. "Let's get you dressed. We have a lot to do today."
Amelia cooperated as Billie dressed her, occasionally babbling in her unique language. Once Amelia was dressed, Billie scooped her up and carried her to the living room. She settled onto the couch, cradling Amelia in her arms, and reached for the bottle of milk she had prepared earlier.
"Here we go, sweetie," Billie said, holding the bottle to Amelia's lips. Amelia eagerly latched on and began drinking, her eyes fixed on Billie's face. Billie hummed softly, a gentle melody that she often sang to soothe Amelia.
As Amelia drank, she occasionally paused to babble some more. "Goo...mama...baba...," she said, her eyes sparkling.
"You're such a talkative girl this morning," Billie said, brushing a strand of hair from Amelia's forehead. "Are you excited to go shopping with Mama today?"
Amelia nodded, her mouth still around the bottle. Billie continued to hum, feeling a deep sense of contentment. Moments like these, when it was just the two of them, were precious.
When the bottle was empty, Billie set it aside and wiped Amelia's mouth with a soft cloth. "All done," she said. "You were a very good girl."
Amelia beamed, her hands reaching up to touch Billie's face. "Mama," she said clearly, her eyes filled with love.
