Amelia 13yo

Amelia awoke to the gentle hum of the morning, her stuffy, Mr. Fluffles, tucked snugly in her arms and her favorite blankie draped over her like a protective shield. Her thumb found its way into her mouth, a comforting habit she hadn't quite outgrown. As her eyes fluttered open, she felt a slight discomfort in her tummy. She shifted uneasily and decided she needed her mommy.

"Mommy," Amelia called softly, padding down the hallway to her mother's room. Billie Eilish, her mother, looked up from the book she was reading and immediately noticed the slight frown on Amelia's face.

"What's wrong, sweetie?" Billie asked, her voice filled with concern.

"My tummy hurts," Amelia replied, her voice small and unsure.

Billie sat up and guided Amelia to sit beside her on the bed. She placed a gentle hand on her daughter's forehead and kissed her softly. "It's okay, baby. Let me get you some medicine."

A few minutes later, Billie returned with a spoonful of the bubblegum-flavored medicine Amelia always took when she didn't feel well. Amelia wrinkled her nose but swallowed it down, trusting her mother's soothing presence.

"Why don't you go watch some TV in the living room, sweetheart? I'll be there in a minute," Billie suggested, stroking Amelia's hair.

Amelia nodded, feeling a bit better already, and wandered into the living room. She turned on the TV and settled on a Disney movie, the familiar melodies and characters offering a sense of normalcy and comfort.

A few minutes later, Billie returned to the living room with Amelia's baby bottle of warm milk, a comforting ritual that had been part of their mornings for as long as Amelia could remember. The sight of her mom approaching with the bottle made her feel a bit better, the discomfort in her tummy slowly fading away.

Billie handed the bottle to Amelia, but today, Amelia felt the need for extra comfort. She looked up at her mom with wide eyes and a shy smile. "Mommy, can you feed me?"

Billie's heart melted at her daughter's request. "Of course, sweetie," she replied gently. She sat down on the couch and opened her arms for Amelia.

Amelia climbed onto the couch and settled herself in Billie's lap, curling up like she used to when she was much younger. Billie adjusted the pillows around them, making sure they were both comfortable, and then took the bottle. She held it to Amelia's lips, her daughter's small hands resting on Billie's arm.

As the warm milk began to flow, Amelia's eyes fluttered closed, her body relaxing completely. Billie watched her daughter with tender eyes, gently stroking her hair with her free hand. The rhythmic sucking sounds and the soft background music from the Disney movie created a serene atmosphere.

Billie could see the tension leaving Amelia's face, the medicine and the milk working their magic. "You're doing so well, my sweet girl," she whispered, planting a kiss on Amelia's forehead.

Amelia finished the milk slowly, savoring each sip. When the bottle was empty, Billie set it aside and wiped a stray drop from Amelia's lips with the edge of the blankie. "All done, sweetheart," she said softly.

Amelia nuzzled closer, seeking even more warmth and comfort. Billie wrapped her arms around her daughter, holding her tightly. They nestled into the couch, with Amelia's favorite stuffy, Mr. Fluffles, and her blankie creating a cozy cocoon. Amelia popped her thumb back into her mouth, a contented sigh escaping her lips.
