Chapter 11: The Exams

Konan's genjutsu hit everyone, the Kurama clan's perfect Genjutsu- ofcourse it had it's downsides but they were almost unnoticeable, this genjutsu didn't trap people in a catatonic state as they were able to keep moving but the power of the jutsu was that it affected people's perception, Konan was able to stand up in the middle of the busy exam hall and no one noticed because to them he were still sat at the desk looking at the paper and he still would be until he deactivated the Jutsu, to everyone else; the real Konan wasn't there- he walked around to every examinee and took a mental note of what each person wrote for a question and compared it, if people had similar answers then he'd write it down as his answer which his fake body appeared to do aswell.

The exam ended soon after as he switched with his fake body and matched up their postures and positions before deactivating the jutsu which no one had even noticed he used, everyone heard the sound of breaking glass which was the indication one had been turned off, the examineers looked around worried as they hadn't noticed it and began to get worried- everyone looked at their sheets which remained the same and no one was missing- the head examineer got worried as no one had noticed, not even their skilled Genjutsu users, he looked at the students before speaking harshly;

Proctor; " This is serious, whoever used that Genjutsu I would like for you to admit it if it was someone in this room, if you do admit it then I'll ask you to demonstrate it or prove it to make sure it's not a cover up, if you admit it and lie you will be failed but if you admit it and prove it I'll automatically pass you. If no one comes forward then the exam will be postponed as we will have to assume an outsider is attacking and used a powerful genjutsu on us "

Konan put his hand up and began to stand, the head proctor looked at his sheet and nodded quickly before looking the tall child in the eyes and speaking in a slightly softer tone since he knew him.

Proctor; " ah it's you, I heard you were released from prison and put into a team but you're working as a solo team in the exam now no? "

Konan; " You know I was glaring at you to keep your mouth shut about the prison sir, I didn't want to become seen as a criminal, I thought it was the least you could do after I used my Genjutsu before to allow you to have extra sleep during shifts "

Proctor; " Yes well Kurama, this exam is important so although I don't doubt your abilities, I'd like you to redemonstrate it to prove it "

Konan nodded and simply used the jutsu again, his chakra was draining so he couldn't keep it up but decided to prove it simply, Konan watched as he looked at his fake body that simply stood there staring at him, he decided to make it dance and act a fool which everyone laughed at not realising the real Konan was planting kunai in their desks, stabbed near them (except ino of course), everything he did would be ignored and not even noticed until the jutsu fell- Konan put some flowers in Ino's lap and stood behind the increasingly aggitated proctor who thought he was making a fool of him, Konan held a kunai to his back before releasing the illusion, everyone jumped as they heard the glass again and were shocked to see kunai stabbed near them- Ino smiled though and blushed at the bouqette of flowers in her lap- the proctor turned his head once his fake body shattered like glass and he saw Konan behind him with a kunai at his spine;

Proctor; " That is a terrorfyingly dangerous genjutsu boy, I hope you plan to use it to help us not harm us? "

Konan; " Ofcourse, why else would I be taking this exam- I am indebted to the lord Hokage and would never betray this village sir, if I need to prove it then I shall hand you my notes on the signs to look for to notice when someone is under my genjutsu, You can tell all the jonin and anbu about it so they will not be affected by it since noticing it is the way to get free from it, I will tell you now though getting free from it does not allow you to move unnoticed like I do and your men can still be attacked "

The proctor nodded and waved him away, Konan dispelled his other jutsu as all the kunai vanished into smoke having only been clones since Konan didn't have enough kunai to use like that, he smiled at Ino who checked to see if her flowers vanished which they had not, she blew a kiss to him and he pretended to catch it. The proctor coughed to get everyone's attention before looking at them all and speaking again, adressing everyone;

Proctor; " listen up, there is one last question but this is high stakes. You have two choices, if you choose to leave now- you will fail the exam but still be allowed to participate next year, if you choose to take the final question and pass you will be allowed to move onto the next stage but if you answer the question wrong then you will be failed and will never be allowed to take the Chunin exams ever again. If even one member agrees to leave then the whole team fails and will be asked to leave, if one team member accepts then all team members will be made to stay and answer it but if even one team member fails the question and answers wrong then the punishment applies to all members of that team, knowing this; who wants to leave? "

Konan watched as he saw other teams start to leave, the number fell but only slightly as most didn't want to give up- he debated just using his time to train more and try again next year but after he turned to Ino, he saw her shake her head and smile confidently at him- she was more confident than ever thanks to him and now it was his turn to show her that he too was confident in himself. The last of the examinees left the room and the proctor turned to them all saying one final statement;

Proctor; " Everyone in this room right now... has passed "

Everyone looked shocked, the final question was already asked, take a risk free escape or accept the risk and hope to win, that was a ninja's battle. The proctor and fake examinees left the room as another jonin came flying through the window;

Anko; " I am your next exam proctor, I want everyone outside and ready in 10 minutes or less- meet at the forest of death for the next stage! "

And with that, the remaining teams got ready and stood to leave for the next part of the Chunin exams...
