Chapter 16: Konoha Crush

Konan reached the Hokage's side, standing beside him as he saw him in his battle uniform and wielding the legendary staff he heard so much about- Konan watched the hokage for a second before realising it was a fight and drawing forth his kunai. The hokage put a hand out, looking back at the boy with a serious expression and smiled knowing he was only trying to protect the man in his old age.

Hiruzen; " Like you Konan, the man we're facing is one of my students- He is one of three, when the time is right, you will be brought before the new hokage and asked a question. I hope you choose right but I can't tell you the answer myself; I'm ready to die here but I will not allow any harm to come upon you or the village! "

Konan; " Grampa please, let me fight with you- you're too old to be battling so seriously and I don't want you to die, you're like family to me! "

Hiruzen; " hah, You sound just like Konohamaru, I'm gonna miss you all and if I could've allowed you to join my clan I would've, you would have made an excellent Sarutobi my boy "

Orochimaru; " how touching, let's get on with the fight- one of my two targets has brought himself to me so I'm ready to take him after I kill you Hiruzen "

Konan didn't listen to Hiruzen's words as anger took him over, rushing towards the snake like man with two kunai in his hands and attempted to land an attack- he was slammed in the stomach by Hiruzen's staff and sent backwards, as he attempted to stand; earth shackles binded him to the ground and kept him from attempting to attack or interrupt in the fight.

Hiruzen; " I can't force you to run, I know you'd come back so if you're going to stay here then stay but grab my body and run as soon as I fall! "

Konan yelled in anger but watched as the two fought, astonished at their pure power and speed which made him slowly realise he was never strong enough to help- he would have only gotten in the way but this made him desire strength, greater strength then ever.

The fight between Hiruzen and Orochimaru was a well fought one, jutsu above A-rank were being used like they were going out of style. Orochimaru began to get the upper hand, pushing Hiruzen back towards Konan who he was subconsiously protecting- he stood there on defence before seeing Orochimaru summon forth two boxes and people who Konan recognised as the first and second Hokage stepped out. Hiruzen commented on the disrepectful action of summoning his predecessors to fight him but both were easily dispatched- seeing nowhere the fight could go and Hiruzen having sustained some injury; he knew he had one choice and looked back to Konan.

Hiruzen; " SON! I OFFICIALLY RECOGNISE YOU AS A CHILD OF MY CLAN, YOU CAN USE WHATEVER NAME YOU LIKE BUT REMEMBER THAT YOU ARE NOW A SARUTOBI SO AS MY CHILD I ASK YOU TO REMEMBER MY DYING WORDS "

Konan; " I will, Father! "

Hiruzen stated his dying words with a smile; " I was proud to lead the hidden leaf again after the unfortunate passing of the fourth hokage, I am proud of my family, I am proud of my students but most importantly, I am proud of this village for standing strong and joining together to fight back against all enemies we've faced- I was and am still proud of you aswell my boy, you adjusted so well to your new life and as my dying wish I ask you rejoin your team eventually through any means neccessary and once you do, please tell Naruto that I apologise; I left him alone in an apartment, he was only a child but I didn't take care of him since I couldn't bring myself to look at him for a while since my wife died on the night he was born, from the person who caused the attack. I always regretted not taking care of him and started trying to get closer to him as the years went on but it would never forgive my actions. "

Konan; " He doesn't blame you... he was alone for a long time but he told me he's happier than ever, he loves being in a team- he sees us as friends and now I accept your role, I shall carry your dying burdens, I WILL PROTECT THIS VILLAGE AND NARUTO SO YOU CAN PASS ON WITHOUT A WORRY FATHER!! "
