The Prisoner of the Leaf

Chapter 24: A fight for his life

Konan looked at the two people he saw before him, glaring at them as he jumped back and opened all the eyes of his arm- Itachi put his hand up as Kisame drew his sword from his back.

Itachi: " Do not fight this one, even we may not win.. "

Kisame: " He's just a runt "

Itachi: " 43... "

Kisame: " 43? what are ya on about? "

Itachi: " 43 times he could have killed you since the moment we met, that's how many times you've locked eyes with him "

Konan: " He's not wrong, I heard Itachi was a master of genjutsu but I think I'm slightly better "

Itachi: " It's not certain who would win in a fight between us but it would be tedious "

Konan: " Yeah I mean you've avoided eye contact with me itachi but I still think I have the lead "

Itachi: " Oh? why "

Konan: " Shisui Uchiha "

Itachi: " How do you know that name? "

Konan: " Danzo Shimura had his eyes as well as the eyes of the other uchiha implanted into him, Surely you remember "

Itachi: " You've had his eyes implanted, you're not uchiha so you musn't be able to use them! "

Konan: " Uh uh, wrong- I am uchiha, only half but now I have the eternal mangekyou so you are of now significance to me "

Itachi: " What? "

Konan: " I mean I'm no longer even here "

Itachi looked shocked as he and Kisame were snapped out of a genjutsu, the boy they were facing have long since vanished and made his way back to the village with haste. They were left speechless as neither even noticed they were placed under one.

Konan rushed, trying to return to the leaf as he was certain something was wrong-  he got back and people were in a frenzy, apparently a fight had broken out and some ninja left to apparently help save the Kazekage. In the village, Konan quickly rushed to a building near the back of the village and soon came across the dead body of Asuma with team 10 around it shocked and crying, he walked up to Ino- laying a hand on her back as she leant into him and cried.

He looked at Shikamaru who was pissed off and rightfully so, Konan let Ino grieve and walked to shikamaru; he faced him and the black haired boy turned to Konan with a sad and pained expression;

Shikamaru: " What, what is it.. "

Konan: " Let's go, we're killing the bastard who did it "

He looked shocked but nodded as they gave chase to the two that had done it, running after the men he just saw leaving the village and headed towards him with Shikamaru- they managed to catch up and faced two men, one had white hair and stitches around his neck and the other wore a face mask and hand long brown hair.

Kakazu: " There was another? "

Hidan: " I don't remember there being another but it seems the boy's come for revenge- I guess Lord Jashin didn't want to save you after all "

Konan: " Jashin? Haven't heard that name in a while "

Hidan: " You know of the Lord "

Konan: " Oh yeah, old diety from one of the old lands that got destroyed during one of the great ninja wars- his scripture had some good teaching but too many sacrifices for my liking "

Kakazu: " Stop conversing, let's fight if we're going too "

Shikamaru: " I'll take the religious nutcase "

Konan: " Got it "

Konan faced off with Kakazu as Hidan chased Shikamaru into the woods where there were thankfully a lot of shadows- the two brown haired guys faced eachother as they looked at their faces and sighed in unison

Konan: " You getting paid? You don't seem like the type that will want to fight "

Kakazu: " Yeah only in it for the money, it makes the world go round "

Konan: " Yeah I see where you're coming from, I didn't want to fight you- I was gonna help kill the guy with white hair but unfortunately Shikamaru wanted to take him on alone "

Kakazu: " still let's just fight and get it over with "

Konan nodded as they readied themselves- Konan summoning forth his claws from his gloves as he faced Kakazu who only got out Kunai- they began to charge at eachother before clashing in the middle, Konan began to overpower Kakazu with his claws against his Kunai and slashed his clothes- when Kakazu jumped back there seemed to be a cut on his skin but no blood leaked out until a few black tendrils came from underneath and stitched it closed.

Konan looked at it and smirked, facing Kakazu who smirked back under his mask- Konan crouched down and began to charge at Kakazu again but this time lower down to the ground before jumping up to attempt to slash him, their blades met again and Konan was kept in the air for a little as they pushed and tried to overpower eachother, Kakazu this time got the upperhand and managed to slash Konan's cheek before they jumped apart and seperated- this time, Kakazu watched as Konan's wound bled before the blood reversed and went back up into the wound before bursting into a purple flame and vanishing so there was no wound left.

Kakazu: " Guess we both have our own little secrets too huh? Wanna show me what you've got under those sleeves "

Konan: " Same time? "

Kakazu: " Sure! "

The two faced eachother as Kakazu threw off his cloak and had four large tail like appendages appeear from his back with masks on the front, each mask opened it's mouth and began to charge an element. Konan smirked and nodded, Kakazu looked amused as he waited- the boy suddenly burst into flames and as the purple pyre errupted before them; Konan began to walk out of it, his emergance from the flames shocking Kakazu as he looked at something he never expected to see, something he wasn't sure he could win against....
