Jeon Jungkook walked back to his office, each step heavier than the last. The tension from the confrontation with Taehyung still lingered, making his chest feel tight. As he entered his office, he closed the door behind him and leaned against it, letting out a deep sigh. How had they come to this?

He moved to his desk, the familiar surroundings doing little to ease his mind. He sat down heavily in his chair, his eyes drifting to the framed photo of him and Taehyung on their wedding day. They were both smiling, their faces lit with pure happiness.

Jungkook picked up the photo, tracing Taehyung's smiling face with his thumb. He remembered the warmth in Taehyung's eyes, the gentle way he used to hold his hand. They had been so in sync, so perfect together. Now, all he felt was a widening gulf between them.

As he stared at the photo, memories flooded his mind. Their first meeting at a charity event for Kings Department store, Taehyung's shy smile as they exchanged numbers. The late-night conversations where they shared their dreams and fears. The way Taehyung's eyes would light up every time he saw Jungkook, even after a long day at work.

He remembered their wedding day—the vows they exchanged, promising to stand by each other through thick and thin. But now, it seemed like the weight of their responsibilities had driven a wedge between them. Taehyung had become consumed by his role as CEO, his warmth replaced by a cold, distant professionalism.

A knock at the door pulled Jungkook from his reverie. He quickly put the photo back on his desk and called out, "Come in."

Min Yoongi his best friend and his best man stepped in, his presence a welcome distraction from Jungkook's thoughts. "Hey, you ready for lunch?" Yoongi asked, his tone light but laced with concern.

"Yeah, let's go," Jungkook replied, forcing a smile. He needed a break from the suffocating atmosphere of his office.

They chose a quiet café near the office, a place they often frequented when they needed to escape the pressures of work. Yoongi had always been a steadfast friend, someone Jungkook could confide in without reservation.

As they settled into their seats, Yoongi studied Jungkook's face. "You look tired," he said gently. "Rough day?"

Jungkook let out a bitter laugh. "You could say that. Taehyung and I had another... disagreement."

Yoongi raised an eyebrow. "What happened this time?"

Jungkook sighed, rubbing his temples. "He wants to close the Brooklyn store. I can't sign off on it because it's one of our oldest locations and it's finally turning a profit. But he doesn't see that. All he cares about are the numbers."

Yoongi nodded slowly. "And you think there's more to it than just the store?"

Jungkook looked down at his hands, fidgeting with his napkin. "It's not just about the store. It's like every decision I make is a challenge to him. We used to support each other, but now... now it feels like we're on opposite sides."

Yoongi leaned forward, his expression serious. "Have you talked to him about it? Really talked, not just during these confrontations?"

Jungkook shook his head. "It's hard. Every time I try, he shuts me out. He's so focused on the company, on being the perfect CEO, that there's no room for anything else."

Yoongi placed a comforting hand on Jungkook's shoulder. "You need to find a way to reach him, to remind him of what you both had. Maybe it's time for a serious conversation, away from all the business stuff."

Jungkook nodded, a determined look in his eyes. "You're right. I'll try to talk to him later today."

After lunch, Jungkook returned to the office feeling a bit lighter, though his thoughts still swirled with uncertainty. As he stepped into the elevator, he was lost in his own world until the doors opened and Taehyung stepped in.

The temperature seemed to drop instantly. Taehyung's presence was imposing, his eyes cool and unreadable. He glanced at Jungkook, breaking the heavy silence with a biting remark.

"Do you always try to play the hero?" Taehyung asked, his tone dripping with sarcasm.

Jungkook blinked, caught off guard. "Excuse me?"

"Instead of siding with the Brooklyn store," Taehyung continued, his voice edged with frustration, "why don't you try being on my side for once?"

Jungkook stared at him, a mix of surprise and anger flashing in his eyes. "Your side?" he echoed. "I thought I was on your side. But your side seems to be against anything that doesn't fit perfectly into your business plan."

Taehyung's jaw tightened. "This isn't about the store, Jungkook. This is about you constantly undermining my decisions. You're supposed to support me."

Jungkook's eyes narrowed. "Support you? When have you ever listened to my perspective? It's always your way or no way at all."

The elevator ride was thick with tension, neither willing to back down. Jungkook took a deep breath, trying to keep his emotions in check. "Look," he said more calmly, "we need to talk about this. Not here. Meet me at the lunch lobby in an hour."

Taehyung stared at him for a moment, then gave a curt nod. "Fine," he said, his voice flat. "One hour."

As the elevator doors opened, Taehyung stepped out, his entourage waiting for him. He didn't look back, leaving Jungkook standing alone in the elevator, feeling the weight of their fractured relationship pressing down on him.

Jungkook's heart felt heavy as the doors closed again, leaving him alone with his thoughts. How had things gotten so bad? He leaned against the wall, closing his eyes and trying to push back the wave of sadness that threatened to overwhelm him. There had to be a way to fix this, to reach the man he once knew. But for now, all he could do was wait and hope that their upcoming conversation might start to bridge the growing chasm between them.
