Jungkook sat in the lunch lobby, his eyes scanning the entrance for any sign of Taehyung. He had been waiting for an hour, and each passing minute deepened his sense of disappointment. The bustling chatter of the lobby around him felt distant, muted by his growing frustration.

He had hoped that this meeting could be the opportunity they needed to reconnect, to talk openly away from the pressures of work and the silent tension at home. But as the minutes ticked by, it became increasingly clear that Taehyung wasn't coming.

With a resigned sigh, Jungkook glanced at his watch one last time before rising from his seat. He gathered his thoughts and emotions, trying to steady himself before heading back. As he walked towards the exit, his mind drifted to the complexities of their life together.

Living in the Kim family compound was supposed to be a dream come true, but it had its challenges. Jungkook had come from a humble background. His parents owned a small piece of land in the countryside, and his brother still lived at home, helping with the family's modest affairs. Jungkook had always been the ambitious one, determined to carve out a successful career for himself. His family was immensely proud of him for becoming the legal director at Kings Department Store and marrying the CEO. They couldn't believe their son had made it so far.

But the reality of living with Taehyung's family was a constant reminder of the differences between them. The Kim family's sprawling estate was a world away from the simple life Jungkook had known. Taehyung's parents were semi-retired, living a life of quiet luxury, while his brother, Kim Namjoon, was the current Vice president of Kings Department Store. Taehyung father random the president until such time. Namjoon was always busy, but he never seemed too busy for his husband, Jin, and their five-year-old son, Sejoon. Jin was already talking about wanting another child, though Namjoon was hesitant.

Jungkook envied their balance, their ability to manage their professional and personal lives so seamlessly. He wondered if he and Taehyung would ever find that kind of harmony. They had talked about having children once, but those conversations had dwindled into silence, another casualty of their growing distance.

As he drove back to the compound, memories of their past conversations about starting a family surfaced. They had been so hopeful, so excited about the future. But then the struggles began—long hours, infertility treatments, and the strain it put on their relationship. Jungkook shook his head, trying to push away the painful memories. This was supposed to be a new chapter for them, a chance to rebuild.

When Jungkook pulled up to the imposing gates of the Kim estate, he felt the weight of his day settle heavily on his shoulders. He parked his car and stepped out, the grandeur of the place doing little to lift his spirits. As he walked towards the main house, he couldn't help but think about the life he had built here and how disconnected it felt from the warmth and simplicity of his own family home.

Inside, the house was quiet, the usual hustle and bustle subdued by the lateness of the hour. Jungkook made his way to the living room, where he found Namjoon and Seojin sitting together, looking through a photo album. Little Sejoon was curled up on the couch, half-asleep, his head resting on Namjoon's lap.

Namjoon looked up and smiled warmly at Jungkook. "Hey, how was your day?"

Jungkook managed a small smile in return. "It was... long," he replied, trying to keep his voice steady.

Jin, always perceptive, gave him a concerned look. "Everything okay with Taehyung?"

Jungkook hesitated, then nodded. "Just a bit of work stress. I'm sure it will pass."

Namjoon's eyes softened with understanding. "You know, it's important to find time for each other, no matter how busy things get."

Jungkook nodded again, feeling a pang of longing. "Yeah, I know. Thanks, Hyung."

He excused himself and headed up to his new room. As he entered, the room felt cold and empty. It had been like this for a while now—Jungkook had moved to the spare room they were planning to convert into a nursery, a silent acknowledgment of their strained relationship and the unspoken dream of starting a family together.

Jungkook sat on the edge of the bed, looking around at the life they had envisioned for themselves, and wondered if they could ever bridge the gap that had grown between them.

He reached for his phone, checking for any messages from Taehyung. There was nothing. No apology, no explanation. Just silence.

With a heavy sigh, Jungkook lay back on the bed, staring at the ceiling. He knew that something had to change, but he didn't know how to make it happen. All he wanted was to find a way back to the love and connection they once shared. But as the days went by, it seemed more and more like a distant dream.

The silence of the room pressed down on him, suffocating in its stillness. Jungkook closed his eyes, feeling the emptiness settle deep in his heart, and wondered how long he could keep hoping for a miracle that seemed less likely with each passing day.
