The drive back to the Kim compound was a quiet reflection of the storm brewing inside Jungkook. After speaking with his parents and brother about the impending divorce, he felt a strange sense of relief mingled with a heavy sadness. His father's steady words, "Do what's best for you," and his brother's less-than-subtle "Why would you leave the rich guy?" rang in his ears as he navigated the familiar roads back to the grand estate that had never truly felt like home.

As the gates to the compound opened, Jungkook's resolve hardened. The divorce papers he had meticulously drafted were a weight in his briefcase, a physical manifestation of his decision to reclaim his life. He parked the car and entered the house, the grandeur of the Kim mansion feeling more oppressive than ever.

Jungkook headed straight to his bedroom, his sanctuary within the cold, imposing walls of the Kim residence. He closed the door behind him and took a deep breath, steeling himself for what was to come. The divorce papers were laid out on the bed, each line and clause a carefully considered step toward his freedom.

He picked them up and read them one last time, ensuring every detail was as it should be. It was final. He needed to give these to Taehyung tonight. Jungkook folded the papers carefully and slipped them back into the envelope before heading down the hall to Taehyung's bedroom.

He knocked lightly, hoping for a quick resolution. When there was no response, he pushed the door open and stepped inside. The room was just as he remembered it from the days when they shared it—luxurious yet sterile, filled with the remnants of a life they once dreamed of sharing.

Jungkook walked through the sitting area, his eyes scanning the familiar surroundings. He couldn't believe how little had changed since he moved to the bedroom down the hall. The scent of Taehyung's cologne hung in the air, evoking a wave of nostalgia and sadness.

As he reached the large bay window, he saw Taehyung standing there, his silhouette outlined against the twilight. Taehyung seemed lost in his thoughts, unaware of Jungkook's presence. Jungkook's heart ached for the man he had once loved so deeply. Gathering his courage, he spoke softly.

"Taehyung, do you have a minute?"

Taehyung turned slowly, blinking as if coming out of a trance. His eyes met Jungkook's with a mixture of surprise and something Jungkook couldn't quite decipher.

"Jungkook? What is it?"

Jungkook stepped forward, the envelope held firmly behind his back. He tried to keep his voice steady, but the gravity of the moment made it difficult.

"I need to discuss something important with you."

Taehyung's brow furrowed, a hint of concern crossing his features. He opened his mouth to speak, then hesitated, as if choosing his words carefully.

"Actually, there's something I need to tell you too. It's... it's really important."

Jungkook's heart pounded. What could be so important that Taehyung needed to share it now, at this crucial moment? He nodded, trying to appear calm.

"Okay. You go first."

Taehyung took a deep breath, his expression shifting from confusion to a solemn, almost resigned look. He seemed to be struggling to find the right words, his hands trembling slightly as he clasped them together.

"I've been keeping this from you for a while, trying to find the right time to tell you. It's not easy to say, but you deserve to know the truth."

Jungkook felt a chill run down his spine. The envelope in his hand suddenly felt like it weighed a ton. He waited, his breath catching in his throat.

"What is it, Taehyung?"

Taehyung looked away, his voice barely above a whisper when he finally spoke.

"I'm dying, Jungkook. I have a tumor. The doctors say I have maybe three months left."

Jungkook's world stopped the moment Taehyung's words pierced through the stillness. The room seemed to fade into a blur as the weight of the revelation bore down on him. Taehyung, who had always been a pillar of strength, now looked so fragile. Jungkook's breath caught in his throat, and a cold dread seeped into his bones. The air felt thick and suffocating, as if the universe had paused in silent mourning. He could barely process the gravity of Taehyung's confession—three months. Just three months to grapple with the incomprehensible reality of losing him.
