Ch. 29: Manager Problems

"Miyeon-noona~"

Hyunjin's honeyed voice echoes through the halls and into Doyoung's studio where Miyeon just so happens to be fixing paperworks by herself. Upon hearing the idol's voice, however, she flinches, and then she grimaces before turning to him.

"You must have had fun working with Minho? You look happy," Miyeon tells him with a sarcastic tone.

"Of course! We had so much fun, we're practically besties now!"

"Mm-hmm. I remember you saying that when Mi- Doyoung so obviously didn't want to be friends with you at first!" All of a sudden, Miyeon's sarcasm turns into a rather dramatic reminder of the beginning of Hyunjin and Doyoung's friendship. Her eyes had turned wide now, too, but Hyunjin could care less about the almost apparent panic in her actions as he continues speaking... as if, with an agenda, too.

"By the way, where's Doyoung? I have something I want to ask her."

"If it's about Nayeon, forget about it. She's still not allowed to date." With an unimpressed expression, Miyeon replies, sending Hyunjin to widen his eyes this time, before he (horribly) denies the manager's correct guess.

"... Whaaaat?? Why would it be about her??"

"Oh, stop denying it already. Doyoung already told me about your little crush on her."

"But I definitely wasn't thinking of dating her- Ack!" Hyunjin is cut off when Miyeon smacks him in the back of his head, before proceeding to scold him.

"Why are you even here? Don't you have anything scheduled for the rest of the day? Don't make me call your manager."

"But I'm actually free, though!"

"Don't lie to me! You literally just had your comeback a few days ago!"

"Alright, fine! I'm going!" Hyunjin whines, as Miyeon continues to shove him out of the studio, only for the two of them to run into Doyoung who just so happened to be on her way to the studio already. Almost immediately, all of them raise their brows at each other.

Miyeon speaks first in the end, as she quickly directs her scolding towards Doyoung. "You sure took your time going to the bathroom... Are you sure that's the only place you went to?"

Doyoung laughs nervously in response, making Miyeon sigh heavily before she plaes a hand on the female idol's shoulder, sending her flinching. Miyeon then places her other hand on Hyunjin's shoulder, and once she got both their attention, she forces a grin on her face, horribly hiding that she's done with them.

"You two... Stop making me stressed out or else, I'll get you two in trouble with the vice CEO. Do you want to just join Melodine instead, then, so you can see Nayeon everyday, hmm?!"

"No?" Doyoung squeaks.

On the other hand, Hyunjin just laughs nervously while shaking his head and fake-crying.

Miyeon grins widely one last time before finally letting go of the both of them. "Now get back to work, you, too. Seriously, you literally have no reason to look for Nayeon unless she's gone missing or is unwell. Stop obsessing over the poor girl!"

"Understood, manager-nim!" Hyunjin replies with a teasing tone as he salutes and then runs off. Miyeon raises her fist at him before turning towards Doyoung who really had no other place to go other than her studio.

"I'll... I'll get to work."

The car drives steadily down the road, as Minho looks outside with his head leaning against the window in the back seat. A sigh comes out of him as his mind goes back to Doyoung all over again, and he inhales sharply as he tries to think of something else. He really has been trying his best, denying whatever feelings and thoughts he could have about the female idol.
