A blood-curdling voice whispered through a man's ears.
"YOU WILL BE THE GATEWAY BETWEEN HEAVEN AND HELL,"
"YOUR FATE WILL COME SOON.."
Kai opened his eyes with cold sweats and was gasping for air as he sat down on his bed. He looked at the time, and to his disappointment it was still 2:31, He was still in cold sweats and was still panting in such a low voice.
"Haa" "Haa" "Haa.. That dream again"
He curled himself up as if to relax himself from a nightmare he just experienced. He's been having the same dream for three months, he takes sleeping pills everyday, but for some unknown reason he, however, cannot sleep.
He got out of bed and walked to his kitchen to drink a glass of water from his fridge. Now, it became a habit of his to go to college at such an absurdly early time.
At least, while in school he could study as long he wants, but of course the campus wouldn't be opened at 3:00 in the morning. He would just stay at the library to study until it was time to open the gates, it's funny how he already knew what time the gates should be opened, well.. he was already used to it like it was an everyday routine.
It was still very early, as he entered the school, he would just sit in the room where he'll take his lessons and take a nap, if it was possible... But today was different.
Kai slept and dreamed again, but it was different today, he dreamt about his mom.
"Kai... Don't forget, Kai.."
"..ai!" "Kai!"
Kai woke up with tears running down from his pale skin. He rubbed his eyes as he looked at the person who shouted his name. It was Jett Roosevelt, one of his closest friends, Jett was next to him with a laptop on his desk.
"Jett? Wha-what time is it? Did I slept?"
He questioned in a deep inarticulate sound while trying to find a reason how he actually slept, and somehow he couldn't find an answer, he also couldn't remembered the dream he had of his mother and what she said.
"It's almost time-- oh!, the professor's here"
Kai took out his laptop and opened it while the professor was preparing for his lecture. Kai looked at his right side and then the left where Jett was sitting, he was confused why Jett was the only one who arrived, so he asked him.
"Jett, where's Austin and Wilder?"
Jett grumbled and was confused why Kai asked him about those couple who were always late. And he thought to himself, maybe it's because he slept today. And yes, Austin Smith and Wilder Roberts are dating, they've always been late, they rarely come in early.
"Same old, Kai... They're always tardy, I guess they've give up on their studi--"
Jett stopped complaining when he felt a heavy hand on his shoulder, he thought in a very frightened way that the guy must be Wilder, their friend, and heard him.
"Were you talking about yourself, Jett?"
Wilder asked Jett in such a sarcastic tone, and was smiling at him. He then pointed at Jett's laptop.
"All you ever do is search for abandoned places, why don't you just live there? With all your fans"
"Oh come on, you're so--"
Jett got rid of Wilder's hands, but couldn't continue what he was about to say, since Austin pushed his way between them and had an exciting look.
"Did you find another place?"
"...Yes, it's on the outskirt of Morton, we can go on the weekend. Look isn't it creepy?"
Austin was excited as he sat down besides Jett, Wilder couldn't do anything and just sat down besides him and grumbled. Kai was also curious so he looked at the laptop of Jett, and it was true that he had only research of abandoned places.
"Which one of that are we going to next?"
"Here, it's so old, but it was just recently found, isn't it exciting?!"
As Jett yelled in excitement, the professor cleared his throat while looking at Jett with glaring eyes, he was warning Jett as he was too loud. Austin chuckled while Wilder smirked and thought that it served him right, Jett was embarrassed and made a peace sign to the professor.
Kai didn't really minded them and was staring at the screen of Jett's laptop, he was looking at the place that Jett picked as their next destination for their channel.
Jett was the one who started the channel, but Austin was the mastermind, he was the one who suggested to go to creepy abandoned places for fame and wealth, but it was only an excuse for this frenzy duo for adventures, since Jett alone was already wealthy.
Initially, it was only supposed to be them, but Wilder was worried that something might happen to Austin so he always tagged along. As for Kai, he was the only one in their group who doesn't get scared when it comes to ghosts, he just thinks there are scientific explanation for everything, so they made him tag along with them.
"Kai, what's wrong?"
Jett questioned when he noticed Kai's strange expression while looking at the screen. He was looking at the church that Jett picked up online, it was small and had a black-ish, and spooky features surrounded by trees.
"Oh,.. it's just that... this place is perfect for your next video, I bet it'll have a lot of viewers"
Kai smiled, and without Jett's knowledge, he didn't knew he unconsciously lied.
Kai didn't felt good looking at it, he thought it was strange, and felt something ominous while looking at it, but he didn't minded his own thoughts to it.
"We'll go on the weekend, all of you don't have anything to do on Saturday right?"
Wilder was about to say something with his usual furrowed brows, but fortunately Austin blocked his mouth. They supposedly made an appointment on saturday to go on a date.
"Of course we don't, and Wilder will be our driver, right?"
Wilder was too stunned to speak, and they just accepted his silence as his way of agreeing.
Kai just smiled at their silly bickering after that, and the constant scold of the professor because of how loud they were.
"I'm so looking forward to it"
Jett made a wide smile all the way to his cheeks and chuckled, Kai just smiled to reciprocate his excitement.
